The service felt a bit off from the beginning—the servers seemed tired or maybe just disengaged. My food came out very quickly. However, the miso ramen I ordered turned out to be worse than expected. The broth was extremely salty, and the noodles were undercooked. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she offered to microwave it, which didn’t feel like the right solution.
They later brought the noodles back—this time cooked—but it seemed like the broth had just been diluted with water. The flavor was completely off.
I also ordered the crispy chicken, which ended up being a single chicken tender, sliced in half. It didn’t resemble anything like traditional Japanese-style crispy chicken. It was overly salty and tasted old; you could even see signs of dryness and age around the edges.
The only reason I’m giving two stars instead of one is because the dining space itself is pleasant. But overall, the food was disappointing and not worth a...
Read moreI had it a few days before the switch to the current ownership after more than a year, but I suspect the switchover had already begun, as the noodles used were a low quality one compared to what Rakkan used to use, and it's the same one I see from other's review.
It's not like late-Rakkan was good --- it was decent when it started and the quality kept declining. Yet the new franchise managed to make it worse. You can see the menu is quite similar to the old Rakkan's one, except less items, worse ingredient quality. Frozen chicken tenders instead of proper karaage.
I didn't planned to leave a review originally but after seeing that ridiculously rude reply from owner on another review, I think I shall share my experience that this place is not worth your money. I know Boulder doesn't really have exceptional ramen, but at least there're a few acceptable places, so spend your...
Read moreIt was okay. The soups were decent- we tried tonkotsu, shoyu, and miso. I felt the miso tasted sweet, which I didn't care for. My husband tried tonkotsu- it's his favorite- and it was alright. The shoyu was the best of the flavors imo. I didn't want the vegan dish, but didn't want meat in my ramen. It's annoying to me that they only offer meat on it and not tofu (unless you ask) EDIT: I was NOT charged extra for the tofu even without meat in my soup. My husband corrected me, I apologize for my mistake.
It was okay but it's not worth going back for...
