When people joke about "$10 lattes", this is where you go so it's not a joke. Getting breakfast there, the gluten free bread is $2.00 extra, adding a single egg is $2.50, oat milk is extra, a flavor is extra, so you're looking at close to $30 for a latte and toast. I gave the food a good rating because it is very good food with unique combinations, delicious ingredients, things like brie and arugula which are always fresh tasting and good quality, and the lattes are amazing, but still, you can't help but to feel gouged.
I did want to come here just to comment that their drip coffee refill policy it stupid. It only applies if you buy a drip coffee specifically in a for-here mug. I spent close to $10 on a latte, but I had to buy an additional drip coffee for 3.75. They wouldn't just give me a refill, even though I had spent more money on the latte than I would have if I had started with a plain drip coffee. The employee said it was to "reduce waste," but they were actually more wasteful by giving me the coffee in a cup that I then poured into my paper cup (reused from my latte), and now they just have an extra dish to wash. She said she wouldn't pour it into my cup, which I get for cleanliness rules, but why can't they just give it to you in a to-go cup then? The whole thing was just extremely idiotic and made no sense at all. If you have a policy you make people abide by, don't say it's to "reduce waste" if it doesn't even actually reduce waste. Just say you don't do refills, then you won't have to charge someone double for literally no reason.
Also, they keep the place so cold that I had to move to my car to work because I was literally in pain from the air conditioning. Bring a coat if you plan to work remote from here.
In all: amazing coffee, great good, experience leaves you...
Read moreAs a devoted fan of Alpine Modern on the Hill, I ventured into the new location with high hopes. Unfortunately, the experience fell a bit short compared to its well-loved counterpart.
Missing the Mountain Vibe: The atmosphere at the new location left me wanting. While the Hill location boasts a cozy, mountain-inspired ambiance, this one felt...well, ordinary. The loud ice-breaking definitely didn't help with creating a relaxing environment.
Coffee: Not Quite Gipfel-Worthy: The coffee itself was decent, but it didn't quite reach the same level of quality I've come to expect from Alpine Modern. And the latte art, a small detail for some, was a bit of a letdown. The Hill's baristas consistently create beautiful latte art, adding a touch of artistry to the coffee experience.
Hope for Improvement: Despite the initial let down, I'm still optimistic about the new Alpine Modern Cafe. Every new place needs time to find its footing, and I hope they can capture some of the magic of the Hill location. Perhaps with some tweaks to the atmosphere and a focus on barista training, the new cafe can become a worthy sibling to the original.
Would I Recommend? If you're new to Alpine Modern, this location might be perfectly pleasant. However, for those familiar with the Hill's charm and coffee excellence, this location might not quite live up...
Read moreThis is my favorite coffee spot in Boulder. Their coffee is top-notch and it’s also a great place to bring your laptop and work for a bit. Plenty of outlets around for charging, but not the most comfortable seats (if you stay for longer than an hour your butt WILL be numb 😆). I haven’t been blown away by their sandwiches any of the times I’ve had them, but the coffee more than makes up for it. I highly recommend trying an oat milk mocha with lavender. They do just the right balance of flavors with it. If that’s not your thing, their hazelnut latte is also fantastic.
And another nice thing is that it’s in walking distance to several other restaurants & eateries on the shopping center, so if you need to switch things up or want something a bit more hearty, you’re in a great...
