Iām from FL on a personal trip. This was the first kava bar I went to in Colorado. The actual space is bigger than your average kava bar/what Iām used to. The set up of the bar and the fact that there are several couches and seating arrangements inside of this place makes it a really nice place to sit and relax and hang out with friends.
It looked like the young woman at the bar (Jasmine) was the only employee there at the time. I felt like the owner should have two people on staff for a bar of this size - one to tend bar and the other to brew kava/kratom. It actually got pretty busy around 3/4pm and she went to go grab some food. Anyway, it seemed like she was a little stressed out. When she went to get food, another employee who happened to be at the bar took over. It took him a few minutes to notice that I was waiting for him at the bar. He seemed like a nice guy, but a little inattentive. Later, when I was ready to cash out I spent another five minutes sitting at the bar waiting for one of them to ask me if I needed anything else because they were engaging in conversation with the other patrons.
Overall, this is a nice space and a cool place to hang out, but I honestly felt a little unwelcome and the product (kava) was a little strong for my liking⦠for other people Iām sure this would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just wanted to note how grateful I am, a place like this exists. An alternative to the nights misplaced and regretted drinking at the brewery or pub. Some people can handle their alcohol, and others, like myself, cannot. I don't drink to get wasted, but to socialize. I'm an introvert - it's hard for me to meet people without the liquid confidence of alcohol behind the wheel. The Root is great because it gave me something alcohol could never; meaningful encounters and relationships. Kava is in.
I've been frequenting The Root since I moved to Colorado a few months ago from Michigan. First glance, I was a little harsh on the place; too loud of music and an all male staff. I was bias towards my kava bar in Michigan, which I was well-known at. It did not take me long to realize how wrong I was about the community that exists at The Root. It is there. Show up by yourself. Go late. Approach someone new. Say Hi. And the next you thing you know it, you're about to redeem your 10th "badger" for free through the app Clover.
So, come out. Try this place two or three times, and maybe I'll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA wonderful new addition to Boulder's nightlife scene. The Root Kava Company offers healthy non-alcoholic beverages, all derived from plants - Kava, CBD, Kratom, teas and mushroom/superfood "koffee" (by Rasa, a local female owned company ) and kombucha on tap. Tonight, we tried the Strawberry Kratom tonic, Mango CBD tonic and traditional kava. They were all delicious + the care and quality was obvious.
I have never been too into the traditional bar scene and deeply appreciate plant medicine, so I'm super stoked to have this place nearby. The ambiance is perfect, with comfortable seating (beautiful bar, small tables, large community table and sofas,) local art and cozy vibes. Tonight we met one of the owners, Patrick - a super friendly, informative man who told us of Root Kava's plans to have a lot of live music, open mics and community events. Really happy to welcome this place to the neighborhood....
