Update: Gabriella, the office manager called me right away about my review and was so kind. She thanked me for my recommendations and said several have been put into place already. She asked how they could ensure my daughterâs gift to me was honored and provided me with several options. Customer service such as this is so rare. I really appreciate the care and consideration they took in following up.
My daughter gifted me the Tranquility package for Xmas and I was very excited for a special spa day!
I wanted to provide a detailed review so future patrons can decide what feels best to them based on my experience.
TL;DR - Clean space; kind staff; more of an extended hair wash than a spa experience; multiple sensations and sounds; your clothes will get wet.
Location & Entrance: Google maps is misleading - The location is the âIndie Salonâ next to and west of the hotel.
The entrance is locked and requires texting your technician. No such instructions were in my confirmation emails, but luckily another tech let me in. {Note to owners: provide instructions to avoid confusion.}
Technician, Space & Paperwork - Technician Jedria (sp?) walked me to their rented space. It was clean; I liked the lighting, music, and diffuser scent!
I chose a nylon or cotton robe and could undress to my comfort level for head/neck access.
Jedria lowered a shade for privacy and left. I was told there were free socks, asked to sit, fill out paperwork, and sheâd return. {Note to owners: provide paperwork ahead of time.}
The Procedure - Jedria asked about a scalp analysis (I said yes), allergies, retinol use, when I last washed my hair, and my hair care routine. The scalp analysis was interesting - kinda gross - I donât imagine anyoneâs scalp looks great magnified! She used a comb to remove bacteria.
Jedria had me lay face up on the shiatsu massage table.
The table was draped in plastic and had space for my legs to shoulders. I could have my arms in or out.
My head/neck were on a metal plate extending into the sink. She asked if I was comfortable; I said yes. I chose hot.
She set a timer, and the table began cycling.
She started with a nice mini facial including Gua Sha and cold stone massage. It was my favorite part.
The hair part was interesting. She covered my eyes/face (except my mouth) with a gel mask.
There were many rounds of things applied to my hair, my scalp massaged with combs, scrubbers, brushes, and Jadriaâs fingers/nails. Iâm guessing ~8 rounds. Some things were hot, some cold. Things falling into the sink were loud. The table was squeezing and rolling - a lot of sensation.
Jadria only spoke if I asked a question and once about vanilla or rose (I didnât smell anything and said vanilla).
Nothing was explained, so it was a quiet procedure, which some prefer. I tried small talk (and learned theyâre renting a second space and hired extra help).
She blow-dried my hair over the bowl while I was still lying down.
The metal plate required readjusting; I shouldâve asked for a towel sooner. {Note to owners: start with the towel for head/neck support.}
It was more of a long hair wash than a massage. The only relaxing part was the water âhalo,â but even that wasnât relaxing due to head/neck pain. Jadria cleaned up, and with my eyes closed, I wasnât sure if it was over.
After drying, Jadria had me sit and used the scalp camera again, showing my dry spots were gone. Jadria said I could change.
My robe was soaking wet, and my bra was soaked to the strap. It wasnât pleasant. There were no towels.
I dressed, and Jadria asked if I liked it. I said yes and left.
I thanked her again at the entrance, but she hadnât followed me out.
Iâm glad I did it. Itâs not something Iâd buy myself. If you want a long hair wash/scrub, you might enjoy it. If you have auditory or tactile sensitivity, it might...
   Read moreI visited Mizu head spa was vacationing in Boulder. The spa itself was very clean and beautiful, the service was mediocre. My friend and I booked together and while she enjoyed her spa experience, mine was lacking. My head spa was given to me from âNâ. I could count on 1 hand how many times my actual scalp was touched. I should of known right off the bat when she used a little buzzy sounding comb (I forgot what it was called) and only used it on my hair, nowhere near my scalp even though the explanation was for scalp stimulation. She used several tools on my hair but once again, not my scalp. Most of the experience was about 2 inches off my scalp through the length of my hair. But my hair is shoulder length. There was no pressure, no scrubbing, no cleansing of the actual scalp itself. It was a gentle hair shampoo. I could of gotten a more relaxing scalp massage from The shampoo lady at cost cutters. The entire experience was $120 plus a $20 tip. My friend had another girl (I think her name started with an S) and said she gave a very deep relaxing scalp massage. So maybe the person I had needs to be retrained.
Just a tip for the spa owner, a small bolster to go under your customers knees would take an immense amount of strain off the lower back when lying flat for an hour. Half way through it starts to get very uncomfortable.
I wish I had a better experience since the reviews were so good, but it just didnât happen for me. If you call here and book, just make sure itâs with someone experienced as the person really does make...
   Read moreI recently purchased and tried the Tranquility package at Mizu head spa ($120 for the service and $20 for the tips) and apart from the clean, hygienic setting, the lovely fragrance of the room and the polite behavior of my spa staff Nadia, nothing was too impressive. I went there to get a real head spa - one in which I would feel refreshed and rejuvenated, while I came back with a massive headache due to the uncomfortable âhanging head in the airâ bed. I didnât even like the massage bed as the moving gears were more uncomfortable than anything and kind of digged into my bones so I requested her to turn it off. She was very kind :)
I have had Japanese and Indian hair spas many times before where after washing the hair with shampoo and conditioner they apply a spa cream to the hair mixed with an ampoule of some kind depending upon the hair texture and the massage is so relaxing and satisfying. Here, I found the service to be a total waste of time and money! There is barely any massage only water running through your hair and before you can feel your mind and body relaxing the service is over. Hence I am quite disappointed and probably wouldnât visit again. If you are looking for a hair spa donât expect...
