If 0 stars was an option. I'd use it. We were seated immediately, upon waiting for waiter to appear we already knew what we wanted to order, the waiter asked if we were ready to order drinks we responded Yes. He said he'd be back. He came back after 8 minutes to take our drink order and asked if we knew what we wanted to order to eat, we said yes and he said he'd be right back (he went outside to take a couples order who arrived after us) after waiting about 10 minutes we asked a different waiter to take our order , and the different waited waved down our original waiter to take our order. Which he came maybe 10 minutes after being flagged down. ( 3 sandwiches, and an order of plantain chips as an appetizer.) As he took our order I asked to have the checks for us because we were on our lunch break and we only have an hour break. He said ok, brought us our drinks about 15 minutes after taking the food order. We asked the different waiter to have the food "to go" because our breaks we're almost over. The different waiter responded ok and went to tell the people in the back to make it "To go" . He said they were backed due to 2 large parties, which wasn't 100 accurate considering BOTH TABLES WERE ALREADY EATING WHEN WE WALKED IN. He came back and said it'll be boxed up shortly. We received the food but the waiter never put in our appetizer order. So I asked the 2nd waiter for the chips. He brought the chips. I asked if the garlic sauce was in the box for the chips and the sandwich, he said it was inside.....BUT IT WASNT, which I found out AFTER leaving the restaurant. Also our checks we're combined. At this point we decided to go pay at the register and the girl behind the counter asked how was the food? We told her unfortunately we couldn't eat it because we had to get back to work so we didn't get our food till 2 minutes before we went to pay, and her response was that we can...
Read moreLet me start by saying my family and I absolutely loved this place. We have been coming here for years and were never disappointed. The service was always outstanding as well as the food. Our family decided to go there yesterday for Mother’s Day and it was a big mistake. I’m not sure if the air conditioning was working however it was very hot and uncomfortable to dine. For some reason all the previous servers had left and the replacements are terrible. Our waiter was very preoccupied and was not attentive at all. He was not paying attention to me when I was ordering my food and forgot items that were ordered. When we would ask him for something we needed he never came back to the table to bring it and after a while we just gave up because it was exhausting to keep asking and not receiving anything. My husband ordered his meal and asked for an extra portion of chicken. The food was delicious as usual however when we got the bill they charged us for two meals instead of just charging for the extra portion of chicken. He only received one meal with extra chicken he did not receive two meals with two portions of rice, beans and plantains. When we questioned the waiter about the charges I assume he went to management to ask them about it, when he came back he said that we needed to pay for another meal. When we questioned him about if we are paying for another meal why did we not receive the rice beans and plantains? He said we can make it to go for you. You can take it with you now. We declined the side orders to take home paid the bill and left. That was terrible customer service and we decided we will not be going back there anymore. There are plenty of other Cuban restaurants in the area that would love our business and treat the customer the way they deserve...
Read moreSecond time eating here, and after our first experience we went in with pretty low expectations. My husband is Cuban, and I was raised in Miami, so we're very familiar with Cuban fare. We ordered three simple, classic, Cuban dishes, which are difficult to mess up: A Cuban sandwich, Masas de Puerco (fried pork chunks), and Lechón Asado (roasted pork). Somehow, they managed to mess up all three. The Cuban sandwich is NOT on Cuban bread, and is not pressed enough. They also skimped on the meat. The roasted pork is shredded, more like pulled pork, and very bland. And the fried pork chunks were tasteless and dry as leather, and should have been accompanied by lime wedges, which it was not. There is no reason a Cuban restaurant-especially in South Florida-should not nail these three staples of Cuban cuisine.
On the upside, the black beans were very good, and the lunch portions of decent size, but this could not compensate for the lack of flavor. After our first disappointing visit we tried to be fair, knowing that any restaurant can have an off-day; things happen. But today's lunch was inexcusable. We will not be going back, which saddens us, as we just moved a few minutes away from this place, and we really miss Cuban food. Hopefully they can figure it out soon.
As a side point, as I now read through a ton of reviews, I notice that the management does not address negative reviews with any sort of apology or explanation; that's unfortunate. I also wonder how knowledgeable about Cuban food those who rate this place four or five stars are. Do yourselves a favor and drive a little over an hour down to Miami and give yourself something to...
