Update 1/5- company reached out to me and made the matter right. I appreciate their gesture. (updated my review with another star).
Today (1/2/24) we ate in, around 8:00pm. Honestly this is our favorite bbq place ever and we’ve been all over the USA for bbq, this compares to the real deal Texas stuff. The food is really pretty good!!!! The sauces, the brisket, the smoked prime rib and banana pudding are delicious. But sadly the employee at the front taking orders was sick as a dog. Coughing like crazy non stop! Sneezing. Obviously very sick. Someone walked in to order and she was in the bathroom coughing, no one was up front to take orders so this person waited. Once she came to the front and was still coughing this person decided to walk out and leave before placing and order. You cannot work around food with a hacking cough non stop wiping your nose on your sweatshirt and handling people’s credit cards and food. Even if she is not contagious, which I doubt she isn’t, this is a major turn off for diners in the restaurant. For gods sake send the girl home please, she cannot be walking and working around the food with whatever she’s got - this is a major major food and safety and health issue. Everyone is going to get what she has. While we were eating she proceeded to cough & she started to clean the drink and condiment area. We could not bare to watch. She started mixing drinks and had her hands inside the lemonade and iced tea machine, while still coughing. It was a nightmare. Honestly made us want to throw our 90$ food order away and leave. So sad to see that. I really pray we don’t catch anything. But regardless of this employee- we love this place and the food is really fantastic. Just needs a better protocol for sick...
Read moreJust ate at mission. Been a while since I’ve been here so when I was working in the area I got excited to go back for some lunch.
I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich sandwich. The menu states that the cost is 8.49$. The total for the sandwich came out to 14$. I was caught off guard considering I remember it being much cheaper. I asked the lady at register if there was a mistake with the total. She informed me prices have changed and the franchisee has yet to update price on the menu. I understand with inflation and the epidemic bussiness have been struggling to get by let alone make a profit.
I accepted the price change. Are my sandwich which was pretty cold if I must say the sauces were great as always. But the part that leaves me disappointed and leaving a 2 star review is that I left hungry. With a price tag of 14$ that doesn’t leave much room to order sides and drinks. I feel if I go to a bbq restaurant I should; enjoy HOT food, enjoy a variety of sides, and definitely no question should be leaving without even being able to think of eating another bite of anything.
For 14$ You should get the sandwich, a drink, fries, beans, coleslaw and a side of toast.
I mean how much can 1 potato worth of fries, a slice of bread, a cup of beans and a cup of cabbage really set you back that you have to charge 2.50$ separate for each of those items?
Ill still come back most likely like I said i love the sauces. Also the mission combined with the friendly staff and ambiance is enough for my to return. It’s just that the drastic increase of price makes it harder to enjoy the restaurant and have more variety on my plate I used to come here with 15$ and order 2 sides a drink and a sandwich. Now that only will get...
Read moreI hate to leave a non perfect review, but sorry any one who left a 5 star review has not experienced enough great BBQ places to have done a comparison. If you want some quick bbq, then your good. But I wouldn't recommend this place. Some simple items to judge a bbq place by is the meat, the sauce, the corn bread and the sweat tea. The meat wasn't bad, not the best. The sauces, good and a ton of choices but sort of watered and not home made. Should you need to offer 10 different sauces to make your bbq taste better? CORN Bread, this is important, theirs was dry and small, not moist and needed their butter. If not, toss it. Was disappointed in the corn bread. And finally the sweat Tea, if you're a true Southerner then sweat tea is so important especially with your bbq. Their sweat tea was ok, but should have been better for a bbq place. A lot of bbq places focus entirely on all the food aspects, but lack on the drink aspect of it. The girl at the counter wasn't rude, but zero smile at all. The woman on the floor was great. I love that the place is all about people in service, police, military, fire freighters and more. Honestly there should be more women in some of these photos. They are kicking and protecting our ass too. But sorry, I wouldn't recommend this place. It's definitely not the worst bbq place I've ever eaten at, but darn it, it's not 5 stars! Mission, I want to believe in you! Lets start with the Corn Bread Lol One of the best corn breads around in South Florida is Mississippi Sweats in Boca Raton. Mission BBQ Corporate owners please check their...
