Service is terrible. Bonnie, the manager couldn’t care less about your experience.
I have lived in Boynton Beach for the past 24 years. And for many years now I have enjoyed dining at Yami. This latest visit will be my last. My mom flew in to visit, so I took her to Yami for a nice dinner. We ordered some drinks, some appetizers, a spider roll and a charashi.
The spider roll seemed like it was premade and taken out of a fridge when we ordered it. The rice was cold, the soft shell crab, which should have just come out of the fryer, was cold. It was unappealing, but my mom didn't want to make a fuss and kept picking away at it.
Eventually, the server came over and asked how things were and I asked him if the spider roll was made to order, or pre-rolled. He said it was not pre-rolled and that everything was made to order. I shared with him that the crab and rice were cold as if it came out of a cold case. He then offered to have a new one made for us (we never asked for a new one, the waiter offered).
This is where it gets interesting... About 5 minutes later the manager (whose name I found out later was Bonnie) comes to the table with a dish in hand. We assumed it was a fresh spider roll. What it was, in fact, was the leftover spider roll that the waiter had taken away. So she comes up to the table, dish in hand, and says "So what's the problem?" I explained to her that the dish was cold and didn't seem like it was fresh made. All the time I was talking she kept repeating that it was half eaten and that why did we wait 10 minutes before asking for a new one. Mind you, we never asked for a new one, the waiter offered to replace it as stated above. I tried to say that the shrimp tempura on the table, which came out at the same time, was still very hot and asked her to touch the crab to feel how cold it was. She said "I'm not touching your food" and walked off with the plate. This left us with no replacement dish AND on top of that, my mom had no entree because she left with it.
We paid our bill, which included the spider roll Bonnie took away from the table, tipped the waiter cash and left.
As I was leaving, I tried once more to talk with Bonnie and explain how I had been coming to the restaurant for years, my mom had been traveling ALL day and that she single handedly ruined my image of the restaurant. Bonnie wouldn't listen, and kept talking over me, so we just left. And had to go get some food for my mom.
We paid $150 for a very bad experience. I will NEVER eat at Yami again as long as Bonnie is working there.
PS – I tried to reach out to the owner via a provided email to share my experience without having to post a bad review, but no one...
Read moreIf I could leave negative stars, that's exactly what I would do. I was having a great dinner with my family, who I rarely get to see because I work long hours. Our waitress Kimberly made our experience wonderful throughout our entire meal. She was attentive and kind and does not deserve to be a part of the awful review that I am about to leave here. After the majority of our meal was great, and us spending almost 200 dollars, I ordered a meal to go home with. Our server told me that they don't usual allow this dish to go because "the meal does not taste the same" after being put into a container. I went along with this, and told her I did not mind because it was my favorite dish and she obliged. When the dish came and I ate some and then started taking it to go, a miserable owner of the restaurant came hustling to our table. She was yelling and pointing and embarrassed my family and me. At first, I was completely confused at why I was getting verbally abused out of nowhere but then I heard her explaining that NEXT time, I am not allowed to by any meals to go. She tried to continue with the story that the meal wouldn't be as good and at first I remained calm. Accidentally, this woman then slipped up and started screaming that they could not find any to-go containers for months because of the supply chain issue as if this was MY fault. When I realized that she was screaming at me and scolding me like she was my mother because she couldn't manage her own supplies and restaurant and as if I didn't just pay another 50 dollars on MORE food, I then became upset. The ONLY reason that I paid for our meal after this ranting and abuse was because I wanted to make sure our server was taken care of. I can't even put into words how ridiculous the entire scene was as it was so outlandish. I am so disgusted and confused as to why someone would treat a paying customer this way. I rarely leave any reviews, but the awful treatment my family and I received deserves this one. I hope that anyone thinking to come here chooses another restaurant where the owner values their patrons. I worked in the service industry for 15 years and can easily say I have seen it all, but I have never felt more unwelcome or embarrassed in a social setting IN MY...
Read moreWe came to the restaurant on a Sunday night with my family of four. We were seated in a fast manner as there was only two other tables in the entire restaurant. No water was served to any of the guests Upon arrival at the table, Not a problem we can always ask for it! Now i Would like to iterate that I am not one to leave negative reviews.
We were celebrating our spring Easter holiday and chose this place to catch up and enjoy with family. We had ordered over $400 in food and drinks expecting to enjoy And be able to cook our own food as the advertisement show. The food was quickly rushed out, which is OK because most of it was raw But once it came out, the server started cooking it immediately and quickly in front of us. I have never felt so rushed in a restaurant and had to hurry to eat the food so it didn’t get cold. For four people, they only gave us a few small side dishes with the raw meat sampler and wanted to charge extra for another salad. The temperatures we requested were completely ignored, and all of our beef came out well done. Boxes were thrown at our table at 9:58 along with the check we didnt ask for. Horrible food, horrible service. We figured we pay the bill and take our losses.
The server then appears with two of our credit cards which we wanted to split the check And I get a notification on my credit card that it has been charged for $986. I bring it to the service attention to get this resolved immediately. He came back to the table with 400 of the order being voided off And explaining to me that the other $400 will take 3 to 4 days to return to my account. And while all this was going on, none of the managers even stepped in to help resolve the issue with the miss payment and stood on the side watching. Please see attached photo for better understanding. I was looking forward to this experience of being able to cook our own food, but to me it seemed like a knock off hibachi Restaurant that unfortunately neither me or my family will be...
