Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store — Restaurant in Bradley

We love the Oberweis organic whole milk and pick up a 1/2 gallon from this store 3-4 times a week to insure our milk is fresh. This past Monday we stopped by for our usual 1st 1/2 gallon of OWM. I had a glass full that night as I usually do. I had an upset stomach during the night and didn't consider it was the milk, I just got it. After a bad night with a very upset stomach I finally felt a little better after losing the milk I drank. Still not thinking the milk was the issue I added a few drops to my coffee. It curdled, Ok maybe the sugar clumped or there was some left over soap residual on the cup but can't be the milk. I poured that cup into the sink and started over same thing it curdled. Now I am thinking it's possibly the milk. I called the store and was told to bring the bottle back because they have been having issues with their whole milk. I had my receipt and brought it back. I spoke to a young lady who I believe was in a manager since she was dressed differently then the other employees. She also let know they have been having problems with the bottling company enough so they have contacted them on several occasions. She also mentioned they have been taking back a lot of whole milk 1/2 gallons. Only the glass bottled 1/2 gallon whole milk was the issue. This is an on going issue they knew the milk they sold me could be spoiledyet they still sold it instead of sending the order back to the bottler. I asked if all the milk was effected and she related no the quart size hasn't had any issues. I picked up 2 bottles and she toldme how much I owed for the milk and wasn't going to refund the 1/2 gallon of spoiled milk I just handed her. No I am not going to be out $7.04 for that Monday purchase after being sick all night and then seeing it curdle that morning. I also asked for the corporate phone number and was told this store was independently owned and has no relationship with corporate she didn't want to give me the number but finally did after she explained the whole independent store thing a few times. She never apologized for selling me the spoiled milk or for it making me get sick. We have always preferred shopping local but not when you knowingly sell spoiled product and then do not apology or offer a simple refund without the customer having to request it multiple times. I really enjoyed my ice cream as always, but I just want to add please speak with the team on making sure they close at the time listed on google/ website. My sister & I came around 9:50 pm Saturday (05/31/25) we were under the impression oberweis close at 11 pm. Around 10:15 as we were eating ice cream the lights started to get shut off on us & we both were a little confused because we thought they were not closing at 10 even before hand we noticed they told a family that they were closed and it was only 10 o clock. Other people as well tried to come get ice cream but noticed it was dark and appeared that they were closed. I understand it’s the weekend & the young ladies were probably wanting to get off earlier as scheduled but if that’s the case please change your hours and close at 10 instead of 11 pm on the weekend it saves time for other people and it helps you guys business to not lose extra revenue. You lost about 9 customers because they decided to close early. That could make a difference revenue wise. We literally went to our car to finish out ice cream in the parking lot and they were just cleaning so it isn’t like they got to leave early they still left around 11 or so. Will not come here again The customer service from the guy at the register was great and the ice cream was good but the 2 plain clothes individuals who were the owners Pam and bob they were standing off to the side were very passive and not welcoming my daughter needed to use the bathroom they did not acknowledge us as we stood waiting to find out where the bathroom was located and the stares that they gave sent off a different vibe this is really sad especially when you bring a guest in from another state and speak highly of the ice cream but one thing I can say you can tell that there demeanor is not of an opening or inviting presence especially to...
