We ordered oysters - they were great. Then we ordered the scallops. Salty as heck. I mean guys how do you mess up scallops? Then we ordered a steak they had on special. Medium rare. When it came out it was hands down the rarest steak I’ve ever seen in my life. We had to send it back. 5 mins later they brought it back… I knew something was up. The steak was super thick. No way they cooked it to medium rare from where it was initially brought to us in just 5 mins. So what did we get??? A completely charred $150 steak. I love me a properly seared steak. This was CHARRED. You could scrape the char off the steak and it would turn to dust when scraped. It was disgusting. And the steak was STILL rare! So clearly they have zero culinary skills here. But get this... the manager Chris came to our table when we said we were sending that disaster back and he had the absolute gall to begin an argument “you guys dont like the sear on that steak?”Sear? We said? No we love a properly seared steak. That was charred and still raw. I then asked him… let me ask you this - did you think it was raw when we sent it back the first time? His response “no I thought that was perfection.” Enough said. The guy was just ignorant. You thought that was medium rare? You’re out your darn mind! We left. They can’t cook and they don’t know how to treat their customers. Anybody that would approach their customers like that sure as heck shouldn’t earn your business. Why would you spend your hard earned dollars with this guy?...
Read moreThe staff was... tolerant. In the sense that they were definitely being "tolerant" of tourists. Of course, this is the worst stance a staff can have if they want to succeed or make money or just be decent human beings. Everyone else in Breckenridge (imho) was extremely welcoming of tourists who are just regular people there to forget about their lifely cares for a while. The host, in particular, was rude - but okay. The server was nice. The bartender rolled his eyes. Okay - we can forgive that. The sides were great - the steak was just so-so - okay, it's not Pete Lugar - we can forgive that. It took forever for the food to come out from the kitchen (I think they were overwhelmed on a Monday by having to two large parties) - but we can forgive that. But by the end of the night it was clear that our party (and others) were a burden to the staff of the establishment - and de facto, the ownership. Culture comes from the top and this was one of the worst high-end steak experiences anyone could have in the United States. I would have rather had a burger at the local pub or cooked myself over a fire with a tin cup and squirrel meat. As stated - one of the worst steakhouses I have ever been to. Oh - the second star is for the beautiful night and the snow raining down in...
Read moreUnfortunately our experience was subpar for the price point. 15 mins after our reservation seating server finally showed up and said she didn't know she had our table. This is advertised as a nice restaurant. You would think prior to opening coverage would ve reviewed. 30 mins after we sat we had asked if bread was complimentary after seeing it brought out to other tables. It was Cold and cold bread and cold butter dont mix. Maybes it's not supposed to be warm. Not sure.
Ceaser Salad was okay. Onion Soup was warm but not hot. Steak was undercooked but not terribly that we would send back. The waitress did ask how it was cooked but I didn't complain. At this point I think we were over it. But it was a good quality piece if meat. Mashed potatoes were good.
Overall I wouldnt come back. Very disappointed for a pretip $135 meal. I really just felt like we were shoved against a wall and forgot about because the servers had bigger tables, not just ours. Would have been nice if a manager asked how everything was...but no one really validated our experience.
My only regret is not asking for the manager. I dont necessarily ask for anything "free" because there is real cost to present and serve but this dinner kind of...
