TOP 5 BEST MEALS I'VE EVER HAD.
The food is unbelievable! Creative cuisine that is swoon worthy and leaving your taste buds still wanting more!! You will be dreaming of this meal in the future after having it.
FOOD WE TRIED: We tried a lot of things, BUT! What the most memorable was the Lobster Sweet Potato Bisque, Blackberry Elk, and the Charred Octopus.
Okay, listen. We were in Breckenridge... Colorado... Landlocked state and the Octopus and Lobster Bisque were absolutely incredible! Like wow. The Lobster Bisque was like having a hug on the inside and the Octopus was the best my brother has ever had (he's from south Florida, so he knows).
The Blackberry Elk was one of the most flavorful savory dishes I've ever had. The Blackberry red-wine glaze was perfectly paired with the elk. The brussel sprouts were shredded and with this amazing bacon. Ughhh so good! (This was one of the top two dishes the manager, bartenders, and waiters/waitresses recommended.)
The Beef Tri-Tip Buns were so full of savory and sweet flavors with an unexpected combination of the very tender beef, sweet pickles, and pickled onions on top.
TIPS FOR GOING TO HEARTHSTONE: GET A RESERVATION GOOD AND EARLY - this restaurant has been one of the best in Breck for over 30 years. They do take reservations online, so get one a head of time if you want a sit down dinner.
They have a First Come, First Serve Happy Hour at 4-6pm with great options at a reasonable price. Great for after hitting the slopes and grabbing a nice drink and app.
Ask the staff what they like! They have tried everything on the menu and won't steer you wrong.
OUR STORY & EXPERIENCE: My brother and I went on a whim to Hearthstone and had dinner and happy hour. We shared a few appetizers and an entree at the manager, Kristen, and bar tenders, Matt & Sarah's recommendations. All the staff were pleasant and fun to be with while still "keeping it classy San Diego". They were just as invested in our experience as we were, which made the whole thing that much more memorable. The staff was VERY generous with us and our service and we cannot wait to have our next meal there in the VERY near future.
Compliments to Chef Matthew, Kristen (Manager), Matt & Sarah (Bartenders). Thanks for a memorable...
Read moreWalking into the restaurant felt like stepping back into a memory—one that hadn’t faded with time, but had only deepened. We were celebrating a birthday, and the atmosphere set the tone: nestled in a tiny Aspen grove, with twinkling lights overhead and the sun setting over the mountains. It felt like a secret moment suspended in time.
We started with their signature beet bread, warm and tender, served with a salted butter so good it stopped conversation. A barrel-aged Manhattan rounded it out—smooth, balanced, and just the right kind of celebratory.
Our server was not only warm and attentive, but deeply knowledgeable. He’d personally tried every wine on the list and had even visited many of the vineyards. He recommended the most perfect wine pairing—an incredible bottle from Oregon that matched the meal in both flavor and feeling.
I ordered the elk—just as I remembered it from nearly fifteen years ago. And remarkably, it was exactly the same. The kind of dish that imprints itself on you, so tender and perfectly prepared that it feels less like a meal and more like a homecoming.
To start, I had the asparagus mushroom salad—earthy hazel trumpet mushrooms and asparagus cooked with care, kissed with parsley and citrus zest. Delicate, simple, but vibrant. Then came the massaman curry: fall-apart tender, with a sauce so rich and layered it demanded silence between bites. The blackberry elk was the star, of course—sweet and tender, luxurious and wild all at once. The wine brought it all together like a chord resolving.
Though we insisted we were too full for dessert, the staff quietly brought out a warm brownie with a candle—rich, gooey, and full of warmth, just like the service. Classy, thoughtful, never overbearing. The kind of attentiveness that feels like care, not performance.
There’s something extraordinary about returning to a restaurant decades later and finding not just consistency, but evolution. In 35 years of service, they’ve kept their soul and their standard. A life-changing culinary...
Read moreThis restaurant is lovely. The food, the atmosphere, the service… All just lovely. We had the most amazing experience last night. We arrived without a reservation and walked in to the host desk. Instead of getting the usual admonishing look when you haven’t made a reservation, they seemed genuinely sorry that they didn’t have a table they could give us at that moment. Instead, they invited us to the gazebo to have a drink and said they would come and get us when something opened up at the bar where we had asked to sit.
We had great service from Ethan outside and lovely drinks on the gazebo/patio. Granted, we were here quite literally at the most perfect weekend of the year. Leaves were falling from the aspens and sitting on the deck floor. It was gorgeous. Weather was perfect. We waited just a short time and then the host came and got us and brought us upstairs to the bar to have dinner.
Benji was our bartender. He was kind, friendly, interested in making sure we had food and drinks that we liked, and he made great recommendations. He recommended one of the specials, which my friend got. And he also made her another beautiful drink which she really liked. She had a pork chop that was cooked perfectly and had absolutely delicious sides with it. I ordered the salmon and was so happy with it! Service to us, as well as the patrons around us, was amazing. The staff here genuinely likes what they are doing and likes their patrons. There were lots of little extras we saw them do to make things perfect for their customers.
When we left we were thanked by every single staff member we passed. I can’t say enough about this place. If you want to have a lovely evening with lovely food and beautiful service, you should consider...
