This was not a pleasant experience. We booked a tour of the Lomax mine online for 10:00A.M for Saturday July 14th and received an email confirmation. We showed up with our two children, who were very excited at 9:45. We waited until 10:15 and called since no one showed up!! The girl who answered said the guide canceled at the last minute and yet they couldn't not call us!!! So she rebooked the tour for 12:00, which was not ideal because we had other obligations at 2:00. We said ok and showed up at 11:45 and again no one was there. We waited until approximately 12:20 and we drove down to the welcome center a few blocks to see what was going on and talk to someone in person. They were not helpful at all . Called and spoke to the same girl and when asked if anyone was going to show up, she wasn't sure. Drove back to Lomax and the guide had just showed up and was unloading some stuff. I called and left messages at both extensions for those in charge about this issue. I got a call back today, almost a week later with the lady just giving me excuses about the whole ordeal. She did apologize a few times while I was trying to talk she kept interrupting me. I tried to tell her that her apologies didn't matter because she would not listen to my concerns. She started yelling at me and telling me she did not need to deal with this because her dog died!! I told her I wanted her boss to call me and she just kept yelling at me telling me she was not going to give me her number because she was on maternity leave. I never asked for her number, just for her to call me told me she would not give me her name. I asked her if there was a board of directors for Breckenridge Heritage Alliance and she quickly yelled NO! That was a LIE. Upon looking into this, there is a board of directors. I would like to speak to a few of them and let them know how unprofessional this lady was. Oh yea and the Lomax mine "tour" was pathetic. We took the kids there for an educational experience and my wife had to ask the guide to explain the history of the mine. We did not start the "tour" until 1:00 after the guide finally unloaded all her stuff and unlocked all the buildings. Not a good experience at all. I wanted the kids to have some real time exploring and learning before we had to leave. During the time on the phone with the lady yelling at me, she did offer to comp a tour. I tried to explain to her why I was so frustrated, but she would not let me. The issue was the fact that no one got back to me while we were still there!! I would have happily accepted that and taken the kids on another tour, but we left this morning (Friday). They could have called me earlier this week while we were...
Read moreI had the pleasure of attending the Bawdy Breckenridge with June, and she shared with us some of the most fascinating history of Breckenridge I have learned since moving here a few years ago. The rich tales of this city and its torrid past had me so enraptured as we walk around historical downtown Breckenridge, I feel like the curtain was drawn back to another age in my mind. I wish I took more pictures of Ruth's costume from the era, but alas, I only took my phone out at the kick-off at the Breckenridge Distillery tasting room, a great way to kick off a tour about saloons and ladies of the night. Would recommend to anyone who lives here year-round or if you are...
Read moreI took the Walk Through History tour with Sherrie and had a wonderful time learning about the history of Breckenridge through her fascinating stories. Sherrie is a warm and knowledgeable guide who taught our group about more than just the mining history of the town— we also talked about the architecture, prominent city dwellers from both past and present, how the famous ski resort came to be, the indigenous people who lived here, and even some info about the modern history of Breckenridge. Sherrie made the town come alive on my inaugural visit here and I found myself telling and retelling her stories to my family after the tour. Don’t miss this informative and...
