My 7 and 11 year old kids and I decided to try the Mystery of Breckenridge paranormal room when our original plans were rained out. This seems like a common theme for our family, as we've done plenty of escape rooms on vacation around the US and plenty in Denver.
This room was unique, with the charm of Breckenridge's small mountain town history properly weaved into the narrative of the room.
As a disclaimer: I go really hard on escape rooms that have 1) puzzles that aren't working properly or 2) unattentive game hosts. Neither was even close, here. The puzzles worked perfectly, and when we didn't align something (slightly), Olivia, our game master, was immediately on the comm letting us know we didn't center the item.
During our experience, we asked for 1 hint, and I'm still a little sad we didn't take a little longer to solve the puzzle. Olivia gave us a great hint, that didn't give away the answer, but made us try something new, and eventually we got it. We finished the room with 16 minutes to spare.
The price was higher than normal (as expected in Breck), but from the very onset of the room it was clear that the experience was going to be worth the price and had some effects that were way above and beyond what we...
Read moreI had a really disappointing experience at this escape room. The room itself had potential to be fun, but the staff, particularly our game master, really brought down the whole experience. I've done escape rooms in several states, and the staff are usually part of what makes it enjoyable. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here.
Our game master, Sophia that is what she said her name was but I’m unsure if it was apart of the skit (brown straight hair, glasses, white Converse, black leggings, and a hoodie), seemed intent on correcting our every move. Instead of laughing off our mistakes like most game masters do, she made us feel stupid for not getting things right. Her attitude was honestly a buzzkill.
On top of that, the audio was terrible, making it hard to hear our game master. Also, I think they should rethink their policy on taking pictures inside the room, as it kind of ruins...
Read moreWell personally as an escape room fan, I loved the effort and budget put into this escape room but there is just one problem. A certain puzzle decently annoyed me Warning! Escape room spoiler! At one point in the room, you must pull on a bookshelf to reveal another room. Me and my ground knew that the bookshelf would open as we saw the hinges on it. Most escape rooms you play you are told that this is a test for the brain and that there is no need to pull or tug anything. We spent ten minutes looking for a switch to open it until we were finally told to...
