Today is December 2nd, 2024. I went to the Tinley Park Golden Corral Buffet around 3:00 p.m.. I asked the cashier if it was okay to look at the buffet, which I did.
I should have followed my first mind, when I looked at the food, because it did not look very appetizing. But I did prepare myself a plate because I was hungry and I did not want to go anywhere else.
I prepared string beans, mac and cheese, spinach, and grilled chicken and a piece of fried chicken. When I was at the fried chicken station I noticed that there was a lot of chicken there but most of it was white meat with no chicken wings and none of it looked fresh. So I asked the food manager what the wait time was for fresh chicken and he told me about 60 minutes.
At that time I took the plate back to my table and I began to eat but then I noticed that everything on the plate was cold. Everything
I was not happy about the food.
A server came by and asked me how I was doing and I told her that I was disappointed because of the quality of the food or the lack of quality that the food had and that it was neither fresh or hot.
She shared with me that she would go and relate that message to the food manager and then came back to respond to my complaint with the statement that they were going to be checking the temperature of the food.
So I left that uneaten plate on my table, as it was, when I brought it there. I decided to prepare myself another plate of food was different items So this second time I prepared pot roast, mashed potatoes and broccoli and then I went back to my seat to begin eating As I began eating I had the same experience. The food was cold. The same server came to ask me how I was doing again and I shared with her the same thing that this food was just as cold as the other. So she said she would go back and talk to the manager, which she did.
She came back to say that he was coming over to talk to me, which he did about 5 minutes later. So I explained my situations in him, as I've explained it above and he told me to go to the register and get the refund I was requesting
Everything in this scenario had already taken at least 30 minutes. So when I went over to the register and shared with the cashier what happened and that I was looking for a refund, She turned away from me to go back to the same manager and ask him a question about my request and he apparently told her not to give me a refund because he was going to be changing over all of the food and that it was too late now for me to get a refund, since I had already been in the restaurant over 10 minutes. When I questioned these policies with the cashier she told me it was a restaurant policy that they don't issue refunds if people have been in the restaurant more than 10 minutes. Now I did not understand what this had to do with the fact that the quality of the food was bad to begin with and it wasn't worth paying for to begin with. And secondly, it is unreasonable to think that all of this would have transpired within 10 minutes, even If nothing had been wrong. Even 10 minutes would not have been enough time to make a decision on what to put on your plate if you were just coming in to dine.
I am thoroughly disappointed with the way I was unfairly treated in light of the fact that I did not need someone to tell me I could get a refund and then insult me at the cash register, to tell me that I needed to do it within 10 minutes, if I wanted one. She insisted on telling me it's the company policy. I want to know why there's no posting of the company policy in the restaurant. so that customers can be advised before they decide to spend their hard earned money on food that is going to be possibly sickening to them, in the long run. Finally, I am yet requesting a refund and I would appreciate a response even if I don't get a refund.
Thank you so very much and I know that it will be a long time coming, if I even ever return to the Tinley Park Golden...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would. I paid $66.22 for a horrible experience. I went to the Tinley Park, IL location yesterday 12/14/2021 around 7:49 p.m.
Lets first start by when walking in to get our drinks, there were no trays to hold your beverages. When approaching the cashier there was a sign taped to the registers stating that the Tinley park, IL location will close at 8:30 p.m. even though the website has the hours advertised until 9 p.m. That was my main reason for going because of the time they closed.
Upon sitting down, I've noticed that there were workers standing and talking and not working. My children and I go to get our food and sit back down and less than half way through my meal I notice that there was HAIR on my pot roast. I took it off and put it on a napkin. I let it go and decided I just won't eat the pot roast. I then go to eat my BBQ baked chicken and I notice another piece of HAIR that was identical to the one on my pot roast.
I go to the cashier and ask to speak to a manager. She calls and the night manager Briana was on duty for she asked me how can she help and I informed and showed her the hair that was in my food. She said she apologize and will have them make me a new one. That was the last I have heard from her. She took my plate to the back and never came back to follow up or to give me a new plate. She then left to go in a back room where we were sitting and she stayed there until 15 minutes prior to closing.
I then proceeded to use the washroom and it was absolutely disgusting! The garbage was over flowing, garbage on the floors, toilets' weren't cleaned it was horrible. The workers had to be aware because there were two workers for sure who were already in the bathroom on their phones when I walked in. I took pictures of the bathroom. You would think that the manager would have someone to clean the bathrooms. I washed my hands and went back to my seat.I didn't feel comfortable letting my children or myself using the bathrooms.
I let my children finish their food and as I am sitting the, manager comes back out the room and walks to the front registers and proceeds to hold a long conversation with the cashier. As she is doing this there were children running through the restaurant and running behind the buffet where the workers were. Not one time did the manager make an announcement or try to stop them.
As we were getting our things ready to go I stand up ad noticed that it was 8:31 p.m and they were shutting down the buffet and turning off lights while there were still customers sitting and finishing their food.
I have never been more disgusted at management and the lack of training and customer service in a restaurant until I came to the Tinley Park location. Nothing was done about the bathrooms, dirty towels and spray bottles were left on the random tables, the waitress never asked if we were okay and needed refills, front of house employees were standing, talking, and going into the bathrooms to use their phones, nothing was ever done about hair in my food.
I will never return to this location and I wouldn't recommend anyone to come to this location. I paid $66.22 for a horrible experience. I will be reaching out to upper management at this location...
Read moreI have eaten at the restaurant in Tinley Park, IL, many times. The selection of food is great. The food is always delicious. Yesterday, September 14, 2019, my brothers and sisters invited 34 relatives to help us celebrate my dad's 88th birthday. My dad had been Ill and almost died months ago. Since he's been feeling better, he wanted to go here for his birthday. I don't like the fact that they wouldn't open the room to allow our crowd to sit together. We were scattered about. Some relatives came from out of town. When we sat down, my nephew pointed out a bug crawling up the wall. Some thought is was a roach, but because it was close to the ceiling we weren't sure. However, when I sat at the table my brother was at, a roach crawled across the table. Of course, the women started screaming and gasping. My brother killed it with a napkin. The waiter, Jimmy, was nearby. He came over and picked it up before I could get a picture. I did get a short video of the one on the wall. Jimmy told someone, who we thought was a manager. He didn't have on a uniform and said he was just helping. He never came over to offer an apology or nothing. I asked for a manager. Oscar came over and said he was going to call pest control. He also said it's been 2 days. I don't know what he meant by that. But no apology or compensation was offered. Jimmy was very attentive and a very good server.
After my initial review on Yelp and Google, the owner responded by attaching a link to their website. They asked me to leave a review there. I had already left a review on that site but didn't get a response. However, I did leave a second complaint on Golden Coral site but still, no reply. Therefore, I will no longer eat there and will make sure my friends and family don't either. Since they aren't concerned with...
