The first time I visited this venue, I was very happy because I really enjoyed their pizza and beer lineup. I also learned that they ran a special during local sports games (hockey, baseball, etc.). What could be better, right? I really enjoyed getting to know the manager and some of the bartenders. Seemed like nice people. As a result, I've even promoted the venue to my social group. I truly had become an evangelist for Twin Oaks Wood Fired Pizza. Even though it's a little out of the way, I would explain to people how to get there and what great food they had. The problem begins when I stop by after a long day and a workout at the gym. I turned down a dinner invitation with a friend at another restaurant in Ladue, to go to have a good Neapolitan-style pizza at this place. It's 8:45 PM and I walk up to the bar to order a pizza and a beer for a late dinner. The young lady at the bar tells me “oh sorry, but the kitchen is closed”. From a previous visit (when I asked, as I am a busy guy and plan my stops), I know that the kitchen doesn't close until 9:00 PM. So, I ask, can't you squeeze one last pizza before it closes? I'm kinda hungry. “Sorry no, it’s closed”. A bit frustrated, I decided to take my business elsewhere and end up at another local venue, OB Clark's. OB’s doesn’t let me down (they have the best wings). This was about three or four months ago. Two more times, the third time being last night, I have had the very same experience. There doesn't seem to be any regard for the customer at this business. I mean if you wanna close at 8:30 then close at 8:30, or 8:00, or whatever, right? I have worked in the restaurant industry and know what it is like to cook, serve, and close a restaurant. This place is destined to be nothing more than a small, slow, barely visited venue unless they change their ways. It’s sad but I have to ask – who’s in charge? I ended up going down the street to Twin Peaks for a salad, wings, and a beer. Not great, but dependable with CLEAR EXPECTATIONS FOR THE CUSTOMER. I am in sales and one thing I know is you never wanna do is surprise your customer, especially with bad news and unmet expectations. In the end, I put it down to the management and allowed this type of behavior to go on. I don't think I will ever waste my...
Read moreMy husband and I were in town for family and just wanted a drink with some decent food. We walk in, take a seat at the bar and we are greeted by a gentleman who was superb at multitasking. After looking at the drink menu, I decided on "Birds on a Bat" or something like that, my husband decided on a Budweiser. I love when someone makes a drink and prior to serving it makes sure it's quality. The bartender goes, "Humph, that's pretty good!" I place my order fir food while my husband wanted to study the menu a little longer. The bartender politely let my husband know he would give him more time but wanted to get my order in to get started. He came back soon after helped my husband decide and entered his order. My salad was the house salad and was SO good. It was a half portion but still enough to share for two people. Both of our main courses came out simultaneously. I had the Veggie Pizza and a side of Mac 'n cheese, the hubs had 1/2 slab of ribs and coleslaw. Everything was super tasty. As we enjoyed our meal, great music played in the background, so needless to say I tried not to dance in my seat but couldn't help it. I finally asked the bartender his name. Adam not only was the bartender, he was also the manager. It was pretty cool seeing how well he worked with us, his staff and appeared to genuinely enjoy his job. He still found a way to sing a few snippets of the awesome music playing in the background. This place was beautiful. My husband and I will definitely be back. I asked about a dipping sauce for the crust of my pizza to eat it. They didn't have anything but Adam created this garlic, roasted peppers, olives & olive oil magnificent concoction I would have killed to bottle it to be able to eat daily (HEAVENLY!!!!) Thank you Adam for such a...
Read moreFor Sharon Crawford host of event. If we could give this establishment less than 1 we would HORRIBLE RESTAURANT!!!!! My family went to celebrate my sons 21st birthday. We had about 35 people so we had the back of the restaurant from 5 to 7, Casey who is an owner came to me after about an hour and said that your family has spent $700.00 already. And to have this back area you have to spend $1200.00, which was not told to me when I set this up. When I set this up, Freddy was who I spoke to in person and he never mentioned the $1200 spending limit to me. He just told me that we could just reserve the back area for those 2 hours and once it was up it would be open back to other customers. Which we were fine with. Casey proceeded to take me in back to show me something on the computer about this and told me that the balance of the $1200.00 was actually was actually wrong and it was suppose to be $2000. Which the remaining balance would have to go on my credit card. I told him no so he kicked us out! We had not finished our food, some of my family had not even gotten their food! He told me he had other large groups of people that he needed to seat! Now mind you we wasn’t bothering anyone we had already spent $700.00 plus they made us give our credit/debit card to run tabs which we thought was odd. My nephew informed me that he was charged three times and the gratuity was on all three checks. They told us they were running tabs, not closing out our tabs every time we ordered something. So my family was kicked out of this place. I believe this was based on race. I would advice any other people of color not to support this establishment. We were embarrassed and heartbroken how something so wonderful could turn ugly. Thanks for ruining my...
