The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but sometimes that's where you can find a gem. That was not the case here. The experience was about what you would expect from a run down little place behind a gas station. I eat a lot of Mediterranean, I thought the food was ok but I wasn't blown away. The portions were on the smaller side and a little disappointing. I was hoping for a warm friendly environment because it seems like a small mom and pop place. Everyone inside was a bit cold. Our waitress wasn't very friendly or attentive. She also tried to refuse to bring us water. Seriously?!? We are all ordering platters, appetizers, getting soda and coffee and you want us to pay for bottled water when we just want some cups of water with our meal? Come on that is ridiculous. I also think we were overcharged by a couple dollars on a few items but I didn't even bother going over it with the disinterested waitress. At that point we were late and had to go. If I lived locally maybe I would try to find some good deal or favorite on the menu and try the place again. I don't go over that way too much so I won't be back, I'll just try...
Read moreAwful place! We wanted to try it but turned out waste of time, money, and stomach. Food was cold, service was awful(waited 10 min to get salt), price was so high and no Turkish hospitality at all but, they try to charge for every single thing. This is first time in my life I see a Turkish restaurant that charges for small tea after food. They charges $10.00(+ tax) for 4 small Turkish tea. They charged $2 extra because I choose a bread choice that was provided to me for my sandwich, they didn't even tell me each type of bread costs extra money. SO, basically this place is money scammer. Don't waste your time in this cramped place, just drive another 15-20 minutes and eat at very nice restaurants in West Haven either Saray Restaurant or Turkish Kebab. They are both very classy restaurant and prices are cheaper than this "kazikci" place. At least they never charge for Turkish tea, they serve food with warm bread&butter, nice servers etc. This place didn't even bring bread with platter we ordered. So, just go to West Haven restaurants, pay less and get better...
Read moreI used to frequent this restaurant when I lived on Woodmont Ave 17 years ago. It was always one of my favorite places to go. The food was always delicious and the older gentleman was always friendly.
Being that I was in the area today, I decided to go give it a try after all this time. The food is still excellent, the employees are all extremely friendly and helpful, but the restaurant looks even better than before. They now have tables in a quaint dining room where you can be served and eat your meal like most restaurants.
It used to be 5 stars, but I just wish I could have given the place a 6 star rating as everything that made this place so special is still there, but now with a dining room and what appears to be a larger menu. I'm the future, I'll make sure to take the half hour drive to come here more often.
If you like Turkish food and you're in the area, come here! You won't be...
