On the way home from Nashville TN to Baltimore MD in July 2106 we chose Johnny Brusco's as our lunch pit stop. It was 2 adults and 3 children. After an average lunch my daughter nearly amputated the top of her finger holding the front restaurant door while leaving this restaurant. After realizing how sever my daughters injuries were we asked several employees for some help. Only one employee was willing to do more then bring a bandaid which was not helpful do to the severity of her injury. The server that did offer to help brought a clean towel out to wrap around my daughters finger and stated she was going to call a manger. Apparently there is not a manger in the building at all times and when the manger could not be reached via a phone call the server asked us to wait around for a manger to call back as to what procedures needed to be followed because of the accident. We chose to skip waiting around for a return call after about 15 minutes (with a scared mother and child and 2 other small children not able to sit still) and proceeded to go to the hospital.
The hospital patched my daughter up well enough to be able to finish our 8 hour trip home where the following day she saw a specialist. She required a 3 hour surgery on her finger and 2 months of physical therapy and now 6 months later she still has no movement and very little feeling in the tip of her finger (from the top knuckle up).
After an unanswered email from the manger of this establishment, I finally almost a month later received a call from the owner. He offered his apologies however had no answers as to why there is no emergency procedure or why his employees were so poorly equipped to handle an injury that required more then a bandaid.
You can enjoy this restaurant for an average dining experience however if you have any medical emergencies don't expect any help, any staff to know what to do if they take the time to stop long enough for you to ask for help and mostly don't expect the mangement/owners to follow up with you or address...
Read moreMy wife on I joined friends of ours at Johny Brusco's (JB) for the first time. The menu certainly has Curb appeal as does the restaurant and decor itself. Pizza Themed restaurant market in the area is certainly competitive and JB's holds up well. Among us, we ordered an Happy Hour Appetizer and 3 different baseline dishes collectively for review; Large Pepperoni Pizza, Italian Calzone with Black Olives and Mushrooms, and the JB's take on an Italian Sub. As an Appetizer, the Garlic Knots were good , though a tad over ovened, not fluffy, but the copious amount of Garlic Butter made up for most of that. Had they been softer, it would have been a Showstopper. For the Main Events, I'll start with my primary entree, the Calzone, which I was very satisfied. It is closer to authentic as it is made with Ricotta by default (looking at you Bella's). Everything combined really well and the dough was nice and tender without being Raw albeit the browned areas were a little crusty and hard. Overall, great Calzone and would get again. Pizza is a very subjective thing, but this one was to my liking. Thin but not crispy, right amount of Sauce, not overly yeasty dough, and the Cheese/Pepperoni/Grease combined well. I would like to see a 20" on offer as I think it would emulate NY style better and thin out the crust even more, but good never-the-less and I would order it again. Lastly was my Wife's Sub. It has a very Jimmy John's style bread which was good but which I found it lacking character overall. It wasn't nearly as Savory as Bella's or Mad Mushroom's Sandwiches and more likened to something you would get at a Jersey-Mikes or Subway. Again, it was good, just not a feature-worthy entree. JB's excels at certain dishes but does not prioritize others. In IMHO, Calzone=Best, Pizza=Great, Sub=Passable. All-in-all, we had fun. The 1/2 Priced Appetizers alone are a worthy reason for a visit and the entrees will be in the wheelhouse for many Italian...
Read moreTold to sit where we wanted when walked in -
5 minutes later someone took our drink order and waited about 5 minutes for a water and a coke
about 10 minutes later came back for our order, took about 40 minutes to get food - not a complicated order, 1 slice of pizza and garlic knots
I grew up in NY - this is NOT NY style pizza, I scraped cheese and topping off and ate them as the crust was way over done and had no intention of waiting 40 more minutes for another piece of pizza or eating burnt pizza
Garlic knots were greasy and no flavor to them at all
No one offered to refill our water or soda, nor came back to see if everything was okay and did we need anything.
Took stopping someone else's server to ask her to send our server with our check, she disappeared after she put our food in front of us and never came back
about 10 minutes later she showed up with our check - never asked if everything was ok
It was not busy at all, so that was not the reason for poor service
Since it was Not busy I was really surprised how awful the service was and also how bad the food was as the kitchen could not have been very busy with the few customers in there
VERY poor service and quality of food was awful and way overpriced for what you got
DO NOT recommend at all and will not go back - really a shame, unless they improve on their food and service, they will not have repeat customers
And they are not the only place to eat in "The Pinnacle" shopping area, 8 other places open, more to come, so they are gonna need to step up on quality of food and service to get...
