Brought my mom here yesterday since she has never had shawarma. The place was empty so we had it all to ourselves. We arrived about an hour before they closed. The staff was friendly and helpful. I saw on one of their Google updates that they had a secret menu item with chicken and beef shawarma on top of fries. I was dead set on getting that. That's what I asked the gentleman for, but there must have been some confusion, because what he brought me was a chicken and beef shawarma and a side of fries. He must have seen the look of confusion and disappointment on my face when he sat the plate on the table as I told him it wasn't what I ordered. I told him about the update from the owner on Google Maps and eventually found the post again, this time noticing it was from the summer of 2021. It was very understandable that he probably didn't know what it was, and he said he never heard of it. He did offer to make it for me, and I told him it was fine as the shawarma looked really good and I don't like wasting food. He wound up giving me a smaller portion of what I was asking for to go anyways. I ate it the next day and it was amazing, even from the microwave. I've seen some reviews complaining about the price to portion ratio, and although the shawarma looked small when it was sat in front of me, I was full by the time I was done. Stuffed. The fries were a little salty and perhaps over seasoned, but still very tasty. I also ordered the side of dolmas, and it tasted great as well. The only negative was that they had jarritos soda in the fridge, and while it tasted fine, when we were heading home, I noticed what looked like floaters in my soda. I can't tell you whether it's from them being old and sitting in the fridge forever, or because I was sloppy when I was drinking out of them while I was eating. What I can tell you is if I lived in Broken Arrow, a good portion of my paycheck might go...
Read moreToday found me in Broken Arrow with about an hour to kill, so Schwarma Shack got a visit.
Food was outstanding and the service was great.
Not having been there before, I opted for the Chicken Schwarma platter and a cabbage roll on the side. The platter had the chicken and rice, a generous serving of tabouli and hummus with 4 pieces of pita.
The schwarma was really well done. Plenty of flavor, gently spiced and cooked well, with the meat still having a good amount of moisture. There's such a fine margin with breast meat. The rice was equally well executed, being a dark yellow in color and boasting a gently spiced flavor. The tabouli was tangy, fresh and hit the spot. Although I prefer tabouli with more wheat in it, this was outstanding. The hummus was pretty much smooth, tasty creamy heaven, hitting every right note it needed to. The cabbage roll was just fantastic. Plenty big, amply stuffed and not smothered in ketchupy tomato sauce like some tend to be. The meat was delicately seasoned and very savory. The cabbage well cooked and tender, despite which the roll held together. The hostess/server was delightful and helped me make up my mind on selections, suggesting I try the falafel. On any given day, I like a good falafel, but today the carnivore in me won out. I did see after the fact that they have kibbeh and kafta, so that's for the next trip. Altogether, with tag, title and tax, it was just over $23, which was a tad steep for lunch, but thats on me because I got the extra cabbage roll. All things considered, great place, nice people and outstanding food. Shame I had to go to Busted...
Read moreI had never been here before I ordered online for pick up. Probably a mistake because the description on the website is a little vague. I placed an order for the Veggie mix platter which has you pick 4 items plus 2 sides. If you don’t want the hummus and tabuli you pay extra for a different side. I paid extra to get fries and salad with my rice, dolma, falafel, and baba ghanouge. I asked for no pita since I needed gluten free. I even verified at pick up they had seen my note.
I also ordered a gyro platter with rice and hummus. The gyro meat was actually amazing: some of the best I’ve ever had. But I ended up with 2 sides of rice and it was so peppery I almost couldn’t eat it. If the description had been better I would have known not to order (and pay extra) for more rice.
The veggie platter was completely wrong. There was no rice or baba ghanouge. The salad and fries were such tiny servings to have charged so much extra for!! Barely 2 leaves of lettuce. No dressing was given for the salad. And pita had been put right on top of the meal (I saw no mention of them having a gluten free pita so I figure they didn’t pay attention to my note and just wanted me to get out since it was close to closing) It was so expensive for the small amount of food. Even though I loved the gyro meat I doubt I’ll be back since everything else was a disappointment. I suggest not ordering online so maybe you can get what you ask for? 🤷♀️
And on a $50 order Door Dash offered me only $4 credit for missing main components of my meal. Totally...
