I went here on 1/12/2025 last Sunday with my boyfriend at 7:30pm. We were greeted with a wonderful welcoming smile from a lady when we walked in. There were 2 other people dining in the restaurant, one guy waiting on a to go order and a line of cars at the drive through. They were slow on the dine in side. The food took a few minutes, but that’s because it’s made to order and super fresh! I love that you can watch the kitchen. The decor and the dining area is very retro and it is a fun casual place with excellent Italian beef sandwich’s. This was my second time and I have not explored the menu because I must have another one of these delicious sandwiches. 😂🤣. 10 stars for the food!
I will never ever leave a bad star review because of one employee. However I would like to write about how awful one employee was to the point that we will NEVER EVER go back here. When we got to the register to order we were not greeted by a young man working (the only one on the register to order from). He was so annoyed and rude I was kinda shocked. I even asked how late he had to work and joked around he only had another few hours. He rolled his eyes at us, huffed and puffed while we ordered. WHY IS HE EVEN WORKING HERE!!!??? Send this guy home! He was obviously pissed to the point of intentionally ruining everyone else’s experience. He was so mad while we ordering it was absolutely disgusting. When I went back to ask for the peppers that did not end up on the Italian beef he was so annoyed and mad I ended up asking another guy for them who was standing next to grumpy angry pants. There were about 10 other people working. This guy should have to be sent home. I would have rather been forced to use the order kiosk than let this terribly rude young guy try and ruin my night just for showing up to this Portillo’s to order food. You can have good food at any restaurant, it’s the customer service that makes the experience. This was my second time visiting Portillo’s and I am really disappointed that it seems the company is too big to take care of its employees or take the time to build a good team. Food was good. But I do not recommend dining in if you want to be treated with any respect or just like human when you have to order at...
Read moreI've eaten there 6-8 times since they've open and it just keeps getting worse and worse. The first time I though the Italian beef was pretty good then the next time the beef was so mushy and slimy (with no extra juice) that I couldn't even finish the sandwich, almost made me sick to my stomach. I really like Chicago style hot dogs, but they also keep getting worse and worse. The last couple time the buns where so mushy the whole thing just fell apart while I was trying to eat them but tonight was the last straw. The two hot dogs where so wet one actually fell out of the soaked bag as I was bringing it into my home. Numerous time I've had to pick a steam out of my mouth from the Pinocchio peppers. Tonight there where two cars in front of me at 7:30 at night and I paid attention to their orders and they where not large orders and it took 22 minutes. I said very nicely to the young lady taking my order " have a good night" she just looked me, closed the window and walked away. Then I get to the window to pick up my food and sat there for 9 minutes watching this girl literally doing dance moves and basically just horsing around. Now the interesting thing about this was that I could see a bag on the counter that I was pretty sure had two hot dogs in it. I see she putting one cup up there, then dancing around, then putting another bag up there until she realized my order was just sitting there. She grabs it and says: did you two hot dogs? I said yes and she gave me the bag and walked away. No sorry about that, no thank you, no have a good night, just walked away. The drive through service is horrible and the food has become nauseating!! It's a shame because I work basically next door, love Chicago style hot dogs and now I'm going have find someplace else or wait until I'm close to...
Read moreI would like to start this off by saying that the only reviews I ever write are positive. I hate writing negative reviews because I feel like things can often be situational. However, I had a very negative experience today at Portillo’s. I am a doordash driver. I have been there a few other times and I have never had problems getting my food. I walked in and I did not see my customers' food on the designated doordash rack and it seemed busy so I took a seat. After waiting for about 15 minutes I decided to ask about my order because the restaurant had died down and it seemed like they were mostly caught up on orders. The employee told me that it should be on the doordash rack. When I told him that it wasn’t he checked and the food was just sitting there in the back for a while and apparently someone came to get it earlier but didn’t take it (which confused me). They told me that they would make me a fresh order and it would be a few minutes. I sat down again and continued to wait. I figured that since they knew which order I was waiting for, they would tell me when it was done or at least put it on the door dash rack. After noticing that I had been waiting a while, I looked at the time and realized that I had been waiting for another 35 minutes. When I went up to ask them about it, they went to a different part of the restaurant and my order was just sitting there behind the counter where no other employees even were at the time. As a doordash driver, this is extremely frustrating because time really is money. I could have made another $30 in the 50 minutes that I was waiting for this order that only paid $8. And It frustrates me because I was visible to the employees that knew what I was waiting for and they didn’t say anything to me. I gave 2 stars because I haven't had problems...
