Had buffet. Salad bar earned 4 stars. It was kept stocked and looked appealing. Tasted good. Hot food 3 stars and that's only because the roast beef was exceptional and the fish good when they finally replenished it. The rest of the hot buffet was mediocre at best. Did not look all that good and only a few scrappings of putty, I mean gravy, spread on the bottom of the container. Service started as average then fell off a cliff from there. Took drink order shortly after being seated. Made one trip to salad bar and then to hot side and ate 1/2 of that before a server, not the original, asked how things were. Mentioned I had not received my drink yet. For some reason she had to go to the complete opposite side of the restaurant to get my drink rather than the station not even 15 ft from where I was seated. No server bothered to follow up during the rest of my visit. Only coming by to take empty plates away and leave the check. No drink refill offered or other follow up. Just a feeling of intentionally being avoided. I payed my bill in exact change and left. If I have the opportunity to receive my complimentary Veteran's Day meal here I am going to pass. Read moreThis place is typically 5 stars. Every time I've been here before, the food has been good, and the customer service excellent as well. Tonight, one person cost a couple of stars, and my money. I didn't catch her name because I turned right around and walked out after her unempathetic response to my question. I can only say that she was a small statured brunette working at 11pm on 12/20/18.
What some customer service people in these truck stops don't seem to understand is that we don't have to spend our money at these truck stops just because we park here. We choose to. It is us choosing to that keeps the business open, and their paychecks coming. I keep food on board and I cook all the time, so I'm not going to starve, and will likely eat better than I would in the restaurant.

I will add to this. Unfortunately I had to have gastric bypass surgery as the bottom part of my stomach stopped working. I am now limited to what I can eat. It must be a high protein, low carb, low fat and very low or no sugar diet. So, to just get a super healthy meal like meat and vegetables or a salad like when the salad bar was open. Believe me the food you have is delicious. The menu is way smaller and different from when I started going there back in the 70's and 80's. Unfortunately due to diabetic problems that I never paid attention to as well as I should have. I now have the consequences to deal with. There are lots of people like me that had this procedure due to weight problems, health or medical reasons. We need a place that can provide a restaurant that can and will serve meals low in carbs.
