So I tried Boardwalk BBQ for the first time during my visit to Knott's Scary Farm this year and I have to admit I really wasn't that impressed. I ordered the meatball plate with a side of white cheddar macaroni that came with a piece of cornbread and although the meatballs were a hefty size and tasty the macaroni was terrible. It taste as if it were frozen prior to being served and had a bit of freezer burn taste to it. Now, the white cheddar macaroni was one of three macaroni style options of sides you could order the other two were yellow cheddar macaroni and hamburger meat macaroni. They also have a few more sides like sausage meat gumbo and BBQ beans if I'm correct. Before I forget to mention the cornbread was a bit dry, not Popeyes Chicken biscuit dry but close to it. In addition I ordered some adult beverages. One Michelob Ultra beer and one Estrella Jalisco beer. My total was about $44 and some change which is a bit steep for one plate and two alcoholic beverages but I get it, inflation high taxes and all that good stuff and what not. They have an outside patio where you can sit and enjoy your food along with the scenery but even that was somewhat of a let down being that the tables were not as clean as they could be. Overall I feel that if I'm going to pay that amount for a dinner for one I should be able to enjoy it! P.S. I should have gone with either the gumbo or the hamburger meat macaroni....
Read moreGood options on the limited food choices. It was my first and second time there on the same day. :-) The open at noon, not earlier (at least on the day I went), so there was a ling line at the door but when the door opened everyone was served quickly. I was confused, having never been there, and not knowing how to order (build your own... Tell them 'that' meat and 'that' side, pointing at watch item wanted. Later in the afternoon I went back to try other food options and I was an old pro in ordering... I helped a confused lady in line behind me because she didn't know how to order, just like me earlier, and when I got to the counter I asked about certain combos and was served and out of the way within moments. On both visits the serving sizes were quite ample. I would even think large enough to feed 2 moderately hungry adults. There is plenty of patio seating with attendants cleaning tables and bussing where people didn't bus themselves, and with the Knott Radio DJs with a 50s (?) vibe (Wolfman and Flapper boardwalk kind of energy) playing in...
Read moreI never leave reviews but me and my partner were looking forward coming back here but we were EXTREMELY disappointed. As you can see from the pictures these plates do not look like $20 worth of food. We got way more last year when we came. We waited in line for 30 minutes and asked them when a new tray of the brisket would come out since we didn’t want the last of the burnt fatty scraps but they said “ we aren’t allowed to put a new tray in until this one is finished” we didn’t want anything else there so we got the brisket and were hopeful it would still be good. There was a couple of good bites in the brisket but not worth $20. Mainly fat and burnt parts. Also the sides were SO little, it should be two sides. Mac and cheese had barely any flavor. The cornbread was fine . Won’t be coming back...
