We were so excited to get in after seeing the last few weekend's reservations sold out! We arrived and immediately were greeted by the hostess and a super personable staff which made us even more excited to sit down and eat! The bar looked amazing and extremely cool ambiance with all of the 1920's decor - can definitely see us coming back for drinks/cocktails before a sabres/bandits/bisons game! The seating for dinner was also super comfortable and awesome - this would be a great place for a fun date night whether you sit down or sit at the bar! The oaks, marbles, lightning, the small historical details in the decor, and overall atmosphere really gave this place an amazing vibe! We also were given a quick tour of the vault downstairs, which was SO cool to also hear the history behind the building. If I was looking to book a small party - this would definitely be the place I would want to bring my friends and family to. The Vault makes a great talking point and it wouldn't be something you'd forget! The elegant but VERY striking space felt like we stepped into a time machine back to the prohibition era. The food was over the top! Our party of four purposely ordered 4 different entrees and we all could not decide which we liked best - although the short ribs and the steak were our very hard won favorites! We did have a gluten free allergy in our party and our waitress was super great about asking the kitchen for the ingredient information! They even had a GF option on the dessert menu (which if you know - is VERY rare to find). Desserts were also over the top. We couldn't believe the size of our plates and definitely did NOT leave hungry. Service was fantastic - checked in on us multiple times and had great energy which was also fantastic for the overall vibe of the entire place. Overall we have already made reservations to go back again two weeks from now. Its not often you find a restaurant that has ALL three: Service, Food, & Atmosphere. Definitely consider for a fun night out with a group, date night, or small events! VERY impressed!

We tried the restaurant when it first opened and then when it reopened after the renovation. Unfortunately the food was not as good on our most recent visit as it was the first time. The braised short rib was incredibly tender, You stick your fork in it and it just falls apart. It used to come with mashed potatoes and green beans which was fantastic, now it comes with sweet potato puree, which was good, but I liked the original sides better. I also got the gnocchi both times, the first time it came in a garlic cream sauce and it was the best gnocchi I had ever had, the texture was out of this world. This time it was in a fontina and marinara sauce which was extremely salty and the texture was not like it used to be, it was still soft but it kind of clumpy. Black iron bistro has fantastic homemade gnocchi which is comparable to the gnocchi that the vault originally used to have, with that soft pillowy texture. Service was great. Atmosphere was wonderful. Only complaint from our first visit was that the carrots were not cooked enough, not tender. They would be much better if they were softer and browned. It's great food, but as someone who really likes salt, it was even too salty for me. There is no parking lot, it's downtown, if you can't find street parking you might have to walk a few blocks or pay for parking.

Our anniversary dinner at Vault 237 was an absolutely unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like VIPs. The food was simply divine. We started with the burrata, which was fresh and creamy, and the scallops, which were cooked to perfection. For our main course, I had the short ribs, and they were so tender they melted in my mouth. My wife's dish was equally impressive. The cocktails were also a highlight. The Old Fashioned was expertly crafted, and the Lemon Sorbet Martini was a delightful and refreshing surprise. What truly set this experience apart was the exceptional service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make our anniversary special. After our meal, the head chef personally gave us a tour of the historic vaults, which was a fascinating glimpse into the building's history. To top it all off, they surprised us with a complimentary dessert to celebrate our special occasion. Vault 237 exceeded all our expectations. It was the perfect combination of incredible food, wonderful ambiance, and five-star service. We will definitely be back and will be recommending it to all our friends! This place truly is a hidden gem of Buffalo.

Me and my Girlfriend we so excited to try this place out for our anniversary dinner, we were hearing good things and it seemed like an eloquent establishment to enjoy an exceptional meal, boy was I wrong. We made our reservations for 8pm and got there early, we arrived to find an apartment style building with elevators and absolutely no signs or evidence that this place existed, after a couple moments of shouting ideas at each other about where the location might be (this was due to an extremely loud and boisterous wedding party going on right in side this strange area) we were directed to the side entrance of the restaurant, we had noticed the door was stuck and had to call the restaurant and tell them we were here for our reservations, and there was no one to greet us, and no one to seat us for 2-3 minutes. At this point everything seemed extremely unorganized, unofficial and very unprofessional, it got worse unfortunately. We were finally seated and our drink order was taken, 10-15 minutes later we got our drinks and 20-30 minutes later we finally got our appetizers, these appetizers were the best food items I consumed from this establishment, this is because when we finally got our entrees; Mine the $50 steak entree that must have been plated by someone’s child and was extremely one note, every thing was extremely salty and just over the top with the savory flavor to the point where hastily drank 2 cups of water without even making a quarter of my way through the meal. Truly the plating was terrible, I mean my steak was sitting right on top of my mixed up green beans and potatoes bites that were all soggy and salty because of the steak juices. The plate didn’t even seem able to hold all the food properly because it was an absolute mess to eat. Now to my partners dish, when we received the entree it was a touch away from cold 😅 and at this point we were just happy to have something edible infront of us because I had gave up on the overpriced and under thought $50 excuse of a steak dish I simply couldn’t finish, so on to the shrimp and crab pasta! And yet again we were let down, as I stated this dish was barely warm, and was lacking flavor all throughout, the only flavor that came from the dish was from the slightly overcooked shrimp, the noodles tasted as if they were cooked then seasoned and promptly washed off and then tossed in a bowl. we both did not finish our entrées, and we both did not order dessert nor ask for a tour of the vault, besides all the negative experiences that we went through with, just trying to find the place and trying to enjoy some apparently “high-quality” food I have to stay without a doubt my biggest complaint that I have of this establishment is that it really seems like it presents itself as a prestigious and classy place to eat, the entire two hour time I spent there there was three different birthday parties of customers that were definitely too intoxicated to be there, rather intoxicated to be anywhere probably, this led to my and my partners conversations constantly being interrupted, by loud overzealous screaming and extremely loud, drunk conversations or drunk, screaming matches with other diners, I just expect at a place that I am paying more than $100-200 for what is supposed to be a exquisite dining experience to NOT have the atmosphere of a club on the Jersey shore. I also want to make this abundantly clear that not once throughout the entire night me nor my partner said anything negative or anything mean nor degrading or anything that even could be considered of giving any sort of attitude of being ungrateful, I also wanna make it clear that none of my complaints are being directed towards the waiters and or waitresses. They are doing the best that they can in what seems to be an obviously understaffed team, and we were very appreciative of everything that they did for us. In conclusion, we were severely letdown by the vault and we are hoping that you guys find the correct audience to market to, wishing all the best of luck who have a hand in this...

I had the extreme pleasure attending opening night on Friday, March 31 at the Vault@237 in Buffalo, NY. It is located on the ground floor of what was once called the Marine Trust Building. When I was told the theme was the Roaring 20's and the Prohibition Era, I donned a black boa and was fortunate enough to be apart of an 8 p.m reservation. I arrived early to find space at the bar of this meticulously restored bank building. Of course, I ordered a “clean, very dry martini and up please!” The handsome bartender prepared it perfectly. I knew this was a good sign. The bar had an energetic and friendly atmosphere so much that the hour before our reservation flew by. We were promptly shown to an intimate table. I thought, “how perfect for a date, with family or with lots of friends” as you could hear each other talk even among the buzz of a full house. I scanned the menu of wonderful choices that is considered “American Favorites" and "Comfort Food.” This unique dining restaurant has something for everyone including outstanding choices for a picky eater like me. We ordered the Italian Meatballs and Fried Calamari to share! Wow! The meatballs came to the table topped with homemade red sauce. There were 4 good sized meatballs, plump, flavorful and tasted like my Italian mama made them! The Calamari were hand cut, arrived piping hot, crisp and lightly fried allowing for the delicate, sweet flavor of the tender squid rings to really shine. They tasted like my Italian nonna made them! For my greens I decided to order The VAULT salad. Seeing it was served with Green Goddess Dressing helped make my decision. The large salad arrived with icy cold mixed greens, picked onions, asparagus tips, smoky pancetta and that gorgeous Green Goddess Dressing. I could eat it with a spoon, and did. I also had the pleasure of tasting perfectly seasoned and steamy French Onion Soup. Thankfully, it was not too salty topped with traditional melted Gruyere Cheese and a toasted thinly sliced Baguette underneath which allowed the yummy, oniony broth to take center stage. Good friends share so extra little bowls and spoons allowed for tasting the rich, smooth and creamy Leek and Asparagus Soup. It was seriously satisfying. Finally and not unforgettable the Vault Chicken Sandwich. A buttermilk marinated chicken breast fried to perfection on a Brioche Bun. It was slathered with a delicious honey mustard sauce that complimented the hand-held beauty that crunched when savored. The meal was to die for! I was too full for dessert which is a good thing because I can’t wait to return and taste other menu items. Sending congratulations and kudos to the chef, servers and owners! You elevated and transformed homey, favorite foods taking the WNY culinary, dining experience to the umpteen level! This fun and exciting restaurant is simply brilliant! Sending appreciation and wishes for...

I reserved a table for my birthday for 8 guest on Saturday…upon arrival we couldn’t be seated until the other guest arrived which wasn’t a problem. My guest and I sat at the bar with the bartender who later I found out was the manager and she made us drinks. When the guests arrived we were seated and the waitress asked us what we wanted for drinks. The waitress seemed very confused or flustered because many times she would put her hands over her face as if she was having a bad day. The whole time we were there for about 2 hours she came to our table twice one was for the order of our drinks and food and the other time was when i asked to speak to a manager because my steak and another guest steak was bloody…one of guest had a big in drink the appetizers were not fresh at all…the spinach and artichoke dip was soooo hard the chocked needed to be cooked longer everything was just bad …originally when we sat down we were asked if we wanted to split checks we said sure and she took our order that way..when I asked for the manager to tell them about the service she comes back to say oh you need to go to the bar because she’s the bartender as well. I went to the bar and I tell her that the service we had and the food was not up to par and she immediately became aggressive with me and I walked off. She then storms to the table to irate and tries to tell me the way I ordered my food which the waitress put in wrong she scoulsnt even remember who the drinks and food went to on the table…our reservation was for 5:30 and the place opened at five…when the manager came over trying to tell me what was ordered I tell her you know what I don’t wanna talk to you because you were completely rude when I came over to tell you about the service we just want our check…she then screams out “you know why I’m putting everything on one check” as if to punish us and I say that’s not how we the waitress said she would take the order…the “manager” says well I’m calling the police and walked off….i will never in my life ever step place in this establishment and I’m making sure everyone I know does not support the restaurant either…these people were completely unprofessional and they treated myself and guess like trash and threatened us…shame on you The vault...
