My husband and I have ordered and picked up from Danji quite a bit. Tonight we decided to sit and dine. We got there a little after 8pm, and ordered our meal. My husband ordered chicken friend rice, and I ordered 7 wings with a side of plain friend rice.
We patiently waited, but then we started seeing people who came in way after us started getting their food, I first shrugged it off as coincidence, but then more and more people started getting their food. Mind you when we got there it was only a couple of people in there. The person who took our orders kept looking at us and then at the other people at the counter. By that point, I felt in my gut something was not right. One of them said it takes a long time to cook chicken. I cook, and have ordered from them over the phone, and ordered the same thing. Our order was ready in 15 minutes. If it takes so long, why were people who came in after us getting their food so quickly?
After I saw steak meals, and other orders similar to ours go out to people who came after us. We sat there for about 45 to 50 minutes waiting for our simple order. I asked for a refund and left.
We’ve never sat down there to eat, and never will again. The service was absolutely horrible, and there was no apology nor remorse. We were left out to feel like nobodies. The food is too expensive to deal with this.
I was shocked at Danji, but this will be the last time we visit that place again.
To Danji response:
I understand why you would want to minimize our experience for business sake. You take no accountability and blame us for the experience you provided us. I stated we received a refund, as we should, since our food took forever and only a plate of chicken fried rice arrived after that long wait. Your establishment did not get busy until about 15 minutes after we ordered and sat down. If when I brought the matter to you it was treated with thoughtfulness and care, the outcome would have been completely different. We don’t eat out a lot, but this is not the first time we’ve been to an establishment and had to wait a while to get our meal, but those experiences were handled so differently. The wait staff was so kind and apologetic, and the manager even came out to check in and speak to us on the busyness of the night and the kitchen. We stayed, and had some pleasant experiences. Customers don’t mind waiting when the service and experience is thoughtful and done well. It’s often the experience that makes you decide whether to stay or go. I don’t even give reviews on here, so for me to do so, it must have been a really bad experience.
No business is perfect, but when you take accountability and grow from experiences, it makes a difference. We ended up going to another establishment, and as busy as they were, service was great, and we received our food with kindness and care, and in a...
Read moreIf I could I would give this place 0 star as I am someone who never complains unless it needs to be. Just left this place super upset with a bitter taste in my mouth. We were trying to have a family dinner with my kids and ended up leaving disappointed. After this evening I will NOT be coming back. I order cheese tteokbokki and bulgogi fried rice and paid $40+ for these 2 orders. Then watching the young Korean server girl and young Korean server boy flirt with each was disgusting which they should do after hours or at least not in front of the customers. If they have time to play maybe they should check on the customers at their table to see if anyone needs a refill on their drinks and how their food is tasting which is common sense especially if you are asking to be tipped upon ordering. Coming from a family owed restaurant business for over 40 years and a hospitality degree customer service is definitely a plus for me. The cheese tteokbokki came out looking good, but we were trying to pace ourselves so we can eat it with our bulgogi fried rice. A young couple comes in 10 minutes or so after we been served our cheese tteokbokki but as soon as they sit down they get served a bulgogi fried rice. Thinking to myself did that young Korean server girl give our food away. So I follow her up to the counter and asked if our bulgogi fried rice was coming as we haven't gotten it yet and she said they are still making it. Tell me how the young couple next to us got a bulgogi fried rice when they just placed an order and now got to their seat???? By now the cheese tteokbokki is getting cold and my kids are asking about the bulgogi fried rice. Waiting another 10 min or more the young Korean server girl brings out the bulgogi fried rice and says I am sorry as this is going to fix my meal. I asked her for a box since now why would I want to eat the bulgogi fried rice with my cold cheese tteokbokki. Isn't it basic 101 to bring out customer's food at the same time or try to serve around the same time and not one 1st and then serve me the rest 30 minutes later. Then yet serve someone who just walked in the same food and tell me mine is still being worked on. Thank you but no thank you. It's one thing if the place is super busy which I would understand but it is not ok if the 2 severs have time flirting with each other but yet I paid $40+ for 2 plate of food that I couldn't even enjoy. I pass and advise the rest of you to save yourself and go eat...
Read moreSo I am a server at Danji and I just wanted to clear things up about what happened today with the recent 3 one star reviews from Paige Flowers, Joe Basket and Courtney Staples. They came as a big group and there was a confusion with what they had ordered because it seemed that either 1. they were not paying attention to what the server said that the item was and they took it as their own or 2. they really just forgot what they had ordered. There NEVER was a complaint that there was something in their food and if there really WAS something wrong with their food, our kitchen and bosses are more than happy to remake it/take the charge off the receipt because we have done it PLENTY of times before. Our customers satisfaction is of importance to us. They said that the managers attitude was horrible but our manager didn't even work today. Being black has nothing to do with any of this, a great percentage of our customers are POC and even majority of our crew is POC as well, we make no distinction between people and I assume that they wanted to make people think that Danji favors certain people which we certainly do not as we care about ALL of our customers and our service. The people who made these reviews were upset that 1- they got their own orders mixed up but didn't want to admit to it and instead blame it on the servers and 2- they asked for another chicken because one of them ate a potato and spit it out because it was hot when it wasn't their plate and the other person did not want it for that reason and we were happy to give them another chicken but had told them that it would take a 40 minute wait because at the moment there was a BIG order for chicken and of course there was going to be a wait and instead, they decided to eat their food, and leave without paying. We have gotten their license plate number and are ready to report them for this incident because it can be classified as petty theft and they can be charged for a misdemeanor and is called a property crime. We have not had a dine and dash incident until recently this weekend and are not happy about especially since it does impact this small business. Thank you for reading this rather long comment on the incident but we wanted to make sure that this one VERY MISINFORMED situation does not go to show what we value in our business and how we value/treat ALL of...
