I ordered the tlayuda to go. They put it in a large pizza box. If you're wondering what that is well I'll tell you. It's a super big tostada, thinner than a regular tortilla, it has a black bean paste (kind of refried beans) then some thinly sliced cabbage, rounds of fresh tomatoes, slices of fresh avocado, their home made spicy Morita Chile sauce and about 3 to 4 slices of asada beef. So because it is given to go on a large pizza box youay consider it a super healthy and tasty Mexican pizza. I can eat a whole one myself but if you're not a big water it can feed 2 to 3 people. Next, I'll have the mole con pollo 😍 and let you know. (Months later) Today 5/15/25 had the mole con pollo (breast) take out lunch and the flan. So this needed a lot of condiment, salt to be exact. The rice too. I don't know if the tortillas are in house made but they seem very much regular corn tortillas. The flan was only ok, it needed in my humble opinion a bit more sugar or caramel. The mole was below standards for my taste and I really don't use a lot of salt in my cooking so this dish is slacking majorly. I don't know based on today's experience I would not recommend el cabrito for Oaxacan mole and pollo. I also feel it is pricey and lot a lot of food. Which is a bummer 😞 I don't know if I'll...
Read moreExceptional authentic family run Mexican restaurant with a decidedly Oaxacan influence. We ordered the pork mole colorado, different tacos, and guacamole. The mole colorado is among the best I’ve had anywhere, and certainly the best in the Seattle area. Deep chile flavor & well spiced, not too sweet, and luxurious consistency. I’d eat a bowl of it on its own. Tacos were more than adequate, and we particularly liked the carnitas & asada. Guacamole was simple, not mind blowing, but simple is good.
The little details & execution here adds up to make the difference. The frijoles negros are beyond amazing, I couldn’t believe how good they were. Seriously some of the most well cooked beans I’ve had anywhere. The rice is an equally traditional white pilaf instead of the more typical arroz rojo you see in the US. Pickled carrots & jalapeños as taco accoutrements? Always a welcomed sight. There is also a legitimately spicy & smoky salsa, presumably with some chile de arbol in there - that’s the good stuff. And not always easy to find.
An easy 5 stars & I’ll be back,...
Read moreFood was great. I came in, placed a to go order and was sitting down in the empty dining area when a couple came in with a young child. They kept walking in and out and the cashier kept muttering something about their kid being "restless." I was quietly waiting for my food when the cashier approached me and said "their food is up can you move? " I was confused because the couple wasn't in the restaurant and I was the only person there and there was a full table and 6-8 other seats. He repeated himself. No please, no explanation just "Can you move." I looked around and the couple came back in and sat in the bench seating by the door where I was. Normally I wouldn't sit while waiting for a to go order, but I had recently suffered a back injury and can't stand for very long. If there is specifically designated seating it should be marked or have booster seats available for people's...
