UNSANITARY/HEALTH DEPT WARNING We TRIED to eat at this restaurant last night but it turned out to be a nightmare!! They were a little busy, no big deal on a Friday night. When we sat down after waiting about 10 min, no big deal. We ordered drinks and an appetizer first so we could look over the menu for our entree. The waitress (also the manager/daughter of the owners) was very helpful and polite - at first. After taking our order a few minutes later, we sat and sat. After waiting 20 minutes, I had to flag down a different waitress to ask if our appetizer was coming as we didn’t want our entrees at the same time. She said she would check and never returned. About 5 minuets after the first attempt, we flagged down our waitress, ya know the "manager/Daughter", she approached our table and seemed annoyed. When I asked about our appetizer, she fumbled through her ticket book, shook her head and said " I don’t see your order, let me check" and walked away. My boyfriend and I were confused because the people behind him, behind me, and the 2 girls at the sushi bar had all sat down AFTER us and had their appetizers and one table had their entree’s! When the waitress returned she seemed even more annoyed and said, " I don’t see your appetizer anywhere, I’ll put it in again". We then asked her how long it would be because we had been sitting for 35 min and only had some water. She then said....and I quote...." I have no idea, what do you want me to do? Go in the kitchen and cook it myself? We are really busy!" HA! I was shocked! My BF then said "if ya'll are too busy we will just go somewhere else!" then she says, " so you just want me to cancel your order? I told you we were busy and I have other tables!" I then said, pointing to the girls at the sushi bar, " they sat down 10 min after us and they have their food." half way through my sentence she interrupts me and says very nasty, " that’s different, they only ordered sashimi!" At that point we started to gather our things to leave, then out of the blue she apologizes that she is sorry because WE cant see they are busy and be patient then storms off! I then went to the front counter to ask for the manager or owner. She follows us up there to tell me she is the manager and her parents are the owners but her mother is at the sushi bar if I want to talk to her. I said I didn’t want to interrupt her making sushi and make the other customers wait like we had to. Then she blurts out “ well my father is too busy in the kitchen to talk to you and I already told you we were busy!” WOW! This whole time she was very nasty, loud and just wanted to argue. I proceeded to tell her that we have a small business and rule #1 YOU NEVER ARGUE WITH A CUSTOMER! Especially interrupt my every sentence! She was so loud that the whole restaurant was looking at her, then once again she barks out, “ I apologized for your food never coming out, what more do you want?!” at this same time an older lady, sitting at the front door, says to us” I came in right after you did, I ordered 4 California rolls an hour ago and they’re still not ready! If I didn’t already pay for them I’d leave too!” Just as this was getting even more out of hand, the owner came around the corner, sweating from busting her butt, WITH NO HAIR NET ON, apologizes to us saying they had a cook quit and were having a hard time keeping up. I told her thank you for coming to talk to us while her daughter was making a scene….. And in the middle of OUR conversation the daughter starts talking in Japanese, Chinese or wherever they are from---ARGUEING WITH HER MOTHER!! Sorry this is so long winded, I’m still in shock at how the place is run. The health department will be notified as to the sweaty- no hair net when making your sushi and the young girl taking credit cards and CASH then working in the kitchen without washing her hands!! After reading these other reviews, we will definitely check out a restaurant on Google before we attempt to try it....

NOT GOING BACK !!.. expect an extremely long wait for your mediocre food, even after you have ordered.. the last visit ( tonight ) my wife and one of our kids waited 15 min. to be seated ( not too bad ), then 10 min. for a waitress or anyone to come to our table- that should have been a sign. Upon ordering our drinks we waited another 10 min. At that point i was ready to leave, plenty of places that want my hard earned money, but my wife wanted sushi, and we were already there. we then ordered.. 15 min later 3 salads came, PLAIN salad lettuce and dressing thats it, after 15 or so more min, i asked about our 3 soups- the waitress said they ran out and were making more.. (We are talking about brown water soup with diced onion and a bowl of crunchy chips) How long do you expect them to heat brown flavored water?? 22 min- thats how long !!! we finished the soup and still no food/ main course.. at this point I am at the mercy of the Japanese food gods behind the dangling beads door and my wife still wanting the sushi, only tempted to fulfill my hunger by lettuce, brown water, and my beer... my wife said i see the sushi sitting up there!! I thought should i go get it?, since nobody else bothered to bring it to the table, but then our waitress brought it and politely said the rest would be here "in just a second" .. HAHAHA what a silly fool I was,, teasing me with "just a second".. If only that was true!! i actually felt confident in her meaningless comment, she said it so fast, as if she actually knew anything about OUR order. So as we watched everyone in the place come and go, even those who were seated after us, including 13 to-go orders picked up !!! I asked about OUR food for the second time, stating that we had been there over an hour !!! the waitress left to ask the cook, returned and said "it was being cooked now 3 minutes"... HAHAHAHA... 15 min later the food arrived ... WOOOHOOO alright !! this is gonna be great I am absolutely starving!! and with the 1st bite - I discover my dish that was cooked is ice cold !!!! the waitress came to the table proud and confident that they had managed to prepare and serve 1 roll of sushi and 3 plates of food in just under 2 HOURS .. i told her it was cold !! she asked did i want to send it back- ummmm, trying not to go totally bat sh** crazy, cause a big scene, and go to prison for biting her face off Hannibal Lecture style, with a look of touch this plate and die lady!! i responded with a big HELL NO !! after complaining we got a whopping $6 dollar discount... all i could do was laugh,, we gladly paid the bill minus the $6 and left.. never to return; to this sushi...
Read moreThis was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with regards to food delivery! I placed my order at 8:50pm with a 60-70 minute delivery time (a bit long, but I accepted). At 10pm I called to see if it was en route and was told it would arrive in 10 minutes. 45 minutes later we found the delivery driver taking the food to a house down the street. Part of the order was missing, the two entrees I paid $20+ for each were cold, and upon calling the restaurant I was treated so badly that I can't believe this woman is keeping a business open! I asked for a partial refund due to the missing items and cold food. Nothing worse than cold filet mignon. I was told by the owner that she would give me a $1 refund. What!? I told her that wouldn't suffice and she proceeded to tell me she wouldn't give me more than $5 back because she has to pay her rent. Excuse me? How about you provide the service you are offering in a quality manner so you won't have to worry about giving refunds! Also, if you don't have the capability to handle multiple online orders then you should not provide delivery service. She yelled at me and said that if I want the order in 20 minutes that I should come pick it up. Umm I think that defeats the purpose of delivery! I was ok with 60-70 minutes, maybe even the 120 minutes it actually took, if the food wouldn't have been COLD! We argued back a forth bit before she slammed the phone in my ear and hung up. Yup, that's right! She hung up on me! I tried calling back but she wouldn't answer my call. I had to use my husband's phone to get them to answer. An employee answered and when I complained about how horrible it is to hang up on someone she said they were having phone isssues. Ha! Talk about adding insult to injury. I ended up calling Grubhub for my refund and when they called the restaurant she only authorized a partial refund if I returned the food. Wow! That's scary, not sure what she planned on doing with it. 😐 I happily returned it as there was no way I was going to eat it at this point, especially not at 11 o'clock at night!
To summarize: HORRIBLE DELIVERY TIME COLD, TASTELESS FOOD APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE
I should have read the reviews on Grubhub as every single one of them was a similar, if not exact, story as mine.
Grubhub did make it right though, they gave me a full refund and discount on my next order. Definitely won't be from Harusaki Japanese Restaurant! Never again, just...
