I would just like to start by saying a huge thank you to the Capital Grille in Burlington, MA, the manager, the staff and the Amazing waiter Gilberto that we were lucky enough to have, they all contributed in a big way to absolutely making our evening outstanding and did everything, plus more to ensure we were comfortable and happy during our special evening to celebrate our 26th anniversary on the evening of November 4th, 2017. We had 7:00 reservations and we were seated at our table by 7:10 on a night that was so incredibly busy in there. While we were waiting to be seated the hostess kept us informed as to when our table would be ready and insured us we would be seated soon. She was so courteous & friendly and it made you feel so welcomed and that beautiful smile she had never seemed to disappear even amid the hecticness of the restaurant that night. When we were seated there was a lovely note on the table thanking us for celebrating our special night there and there were little hearts spread across the table cloth, perfect extra touches. Gilberto approached our table and with an incredibly warm smile congratulated us on our anniversary and he was so genuine and real (I feel often times many waitstaff just play the game to make their tips, but with him you felt he was genuine). As we discussed wine and food his suggestions and thoughts were great, it was like he already knew us. We both started with the French Onion soup which was so tasty, it was not salty, nor was it overly sweet and the cheese was melted perfectly. For dinner I ordered the Filet Mignon and my husband order the N.Y. Strip and both were cooked perfectly to how we ordered them. My Filet was so tender and full of amazing flavor that it just melted in my mouth and my husband said his N.Y. Strip was perfectly cooked, juicy, salty & just a little buttery – AMAZING. Our sides of Au Gratin Potatoes & Sautéed Spinach were great as well. Gilberto checked in on us just enough to make sure we were pleased with everything and to see if we needed anything else. Being attentive yet not overly so as a waiter is a key thing for me. After dinner we were surprised with a beautiful plate that said Happy Anniversary written in chocolate and on each end there was a Flourless Chocolate Expresso Cake and the Capital Grille Cheesecake which was ironic because my husband’s favorite dessert is cheesecake and mine is anything chocolate and add in some expresso and it’s perfect. To go along with the desserts we were each given a glass of wonderful champagne and the desserts and champagne were compliments & congratulations from the Capital Grille. We savored every last bite and sip. We ended the night with cappuccino that had a delightfully recognizable espresso taste, low acidity, rich structure and rich sweet foam which made it the perfect ending to a perfect night.
We would like to send out a big thank you to Gilberto for truly making the night exceed our expectations in every way. His personality, his warmth & knowledge of anything we asked him about along with that connection he made with us right from the beginning that made us feel like we were lifelong friends with him and just his true genuine character made this the best experience we’ve ever had with a server anywhere. We will definitely be requesting Gilberto on our next visit.
This Capital Grille location has an environment and food that are beyond expectation, the staff are polite and warm and friendly even amid the chaos of an excessively busy night and everything from the service to the food was exceptional.
It really did exceed expectations. Thanks again for a perfect anniversary...
Read moreJust celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary at the Capital Grille in Burlington, MA. As usual, we dressed up in our wedding outfits. If nothing else, it gives us our weight goals for this time of year and I'm happy to say the outfits still fit.
The food at the restaurant is incredible. As usual, I got the porcini-rubbed rib-eye. I don't normally eat huge steaks, but I save it all for this one meal; it's worth the wait. As happens every year, I ask myself if I could possibly eat this huge steak and at the end, I find myself struggling to not to pick up the bone and gnaw off any remaining meat (not very proper while wearing a tux).
As this was obviously something big like our anniversary, they led off with champagne, something we didn't even have to order. For the first time, I enjoyed champagne. I believe it was the Wycliff Brut, definitely available in liquor stores in New Hampshire and I'm going to go look for it in our area.
We normally drink Chianti's but they didn't have one so we asked the waiter (are we using "waiter" for both men and women these days?) for recommendations. The wine I got was perfect. It's not listed on their website so I'm going to have to go back to find out the label on this one.
They brought out a plate with several desserts, on the house: their special cheesecake and what I think is their flourless chocolate expresso cake. The "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate is actually chocolate.
This restaurant's food is incredible. Even the mashed potatoes is stupendous. We must go back at some other time so I can try other things on the menu. The Creme Brulee is calling my name.
Yes, we've already made reservations for next year. 😁
PS: I saw an earlier (rude) review about having to wait. One year we had a short wait. It wasn't a problem with the staff: the customers at the table we reserved decided to stay for desert and didn't leave on time. I don't expect the restaurant to kick them out and it was worth the wait to get that one table. It just gives the restaurant an extra reason to be nice to us...

We took my sister-in-law here for her birthday on a Saturday evening, which she made reservations for a few days prior. Apparently, this location is on the smaller side, as evidenced by some of the tables being in close proximity to one another. They do valet out front, so you need to park a bit farther away in the parking lot if you self-park.
Our server Steve was awesome. He gave great recommendations: the $20 calamari appetizer was some of the best, most tender calamari I’ve ever had, and the $17 Stoli Doli cocktail was delicious. I also loved the $25 lobster mac & cheese, and the $13 brussel sprouts were tender and flavorful. The birthday girl enjoyed her $16 black tie margaritas, her $16 lobster bisque, and her $75 porcini rubbed bone-in ribeye (which was over-seared and burnt—read more below). My in-laws both enjoyed their $52 miso butter sea bass.
However, my $56 10 oz filet mignon was disappointing. It came out medium rare as I had asked for, but the outside was burned—I had to cut off both the top and the sides of the cut for being tough and, well, inedible. My husband got the $62 bone-in Kona crusted dry aged NY strip, medium rare, also burnt and dry. He wished he had gotten the rib eye, which would have been more likely to have been tender.
Since we had informed the restaurant of our table’s birthday, they were sweet to have had a birthday card and confetti at the table when we sat down, as well as a complimentary birthday dessert plate at the end of the meal (the flourless chocolate espresso cake is delicious, and the cheesecake is great). Also, their bread basket is bomb, especially the cheese bread.
Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the service, and the sides. But I would pass on any of their steaks. Stick to...
