Ive been going into Gondoliers for over 25 years. In that time there has been one constant, the owner. My first negative experience was at around 17 years old. My girlfriend's (later wife) car wouldn't start after eating there and asked to use the phone (before she had a cell phone). The owner handed her the phone but refused to dial the number because of the 770 area code (cell phone and not long distance) telling her it was long distance. She had to walk over to Ingles's to use the phone. Over the last 20 years I guess I have just grown accustomed to his rudeness. One of my best friends refuses to eat there for that very reason. But last night was the last time for me. I called in an order after looking at the menu listed on his Google page. I abruptly told me that didn't have the dish. I asked for another and again was interrupted and told I was looking at the Rome GA store's menu. I settled on Spaghetti and the conversation ended. About 20 mins later I arrived at the location and gave me name for the order. The response was "I don't know names, what's your number". Rubbed me the wrong way but he's right he didn't ask my name when I ordered. Upon hearing my number he immediately began this rant about me being wrong and looking at the Rome menu. I politely informed him that he might want to "check his listing". He took my money and returned my change, telling me, "who knows more me or you". I returned to my car retrieved my phone and reentered the restaurant to show him "his listing". Upon coming through the door he immediately told me "Im busy come back tomorrow". I get it, my mother is close to his age. Im sure he isn't the one who put his menu on Google and probably has no idea how to change it. But to set and basically call a customer a "liar" in front of others and then refuse to be...
Read moreMe and my sister and her husband stopped here while we were visiting Calhoun. When we got there, it was incredibly hot inside and we saw on the wall thermostat that it was 81° and there was no running AC to cool it down. The bathroom hand dryer didn't work and their paper towels and toilet paper were just left sitting on the toilet instead of being stocked in the dispensers. They gave us Styrofoam cups but had no lids, and you had to grab plastic forks from the drink station as they did not provide silverware. You were not provided with bread sticks while waiting for your food like other gondaliers do. We waited for an hour wondering when our food would come out and when my brother in law went to check, my sister's chicken Alfredo had been left sitting on the counter getting cold. When mine and his food came, everything was served on paper plates, and it was hard to lift the Alfredo off the tray without the sauce spilling because it was so watery. The chicken in my sister's Alfredo was grey and she said it tasted like canned chicken. My brothers Italian cheese steak sandwich had almost no filling and was all bread, and his fries looked oddly pale and he said they tasted like a rotten potato. The Alfredo itself had no flavor other than plain noodles since the sauce was too runny to stick to them. We paid with cards and got refunds, but they gave us the refunds in cash and did not account for the tips we left, since they request tips upon ordering even though they don't even bring your food out or service you at the table. I am unsure if they will keep the tip or not but if they do that's even worse as it is absolutely not deserved for what they tried to feed us. It's more worth the drive to Dalton as there are two much better gondalier's there with better service and quality. They also charge extra for any sauce...
Read moreI called in a order for picked and asked what, if any specials they had going on right now, the lady on the phone told me they had a buy one get one free deal... on any size pizza with however many toppings you want.. so I ordered 1 large pepperoni and sausage pizza and 1 large pepperoni and black olive. I also ordered a submarine sandwich and made sure to tell the lady I only wanted the sandwich. First of all she cut me off multiple times and had a rushed, rude tone. She didn't get my name, just my phone number. My husband goes to pick up our order and it is over $40..... He did not get a receipt.. the sandwich was almost enedibly soggy and despite saying no to fries, I got a bunch of disgusting soggy, not seasoned fries thrown in my box as well. .. so.. lets say the sandwhich monstrosity is $10 (which is crazy because it was like maybe 6 inchs long and im telling you, it was the sloppiest, most disgustingly thrown together sandwhich.. not worth even $5) So, is 1 pizza with 2 toppings actually over $30? Because you should really let someone know about that.. I feel so taken advantage of and cheated. What a way to run a busness. You...
