Jack's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Calhoun

Oh my, this place is an absolute wreck. I've been there exactly 3 times and each time it has been worse than the previous visit.

It's not that the food is bad. It's just that the people making it are. They slap together what would otherwise be decent food (except for the breakfast...disgusting) and take WAY WAY too long to do it.

My last visit, was early AM with no line proceeded as follows:

The service was HORRENDOUS. On this last (and will now be literally my last) visit through the drive thru I had the pleasure of dealing with several of the slowest and (we'll just call it "worst trained") employees I've had to deal with in awhile. Not only did I have to repeat my order FOUR times into the speaker but when I got to the window and had about half an order handed to me, I had to repeat it 3 more times in order to get everything I had repeatedly asked for. And during all of this all I was met with was blank stares and cluelessness by multiple employees. Upon examination of the receipt (while I also had to ask for several times) less than half of what I had asked for was accounted for, I was severely undercharged, I ended up with way more food that I asked for (because they just kept throwing food at me thinking they had gotten it right) AND IT STILL WASN'T RIGHT.

This isn't complicated guys. Listen to what the customer says, push the buttons, hand over the food. I've had some horrible service in Calhoun (seems to be a running theme here,) but this place gets the gold star this week. I'd advise just staying away. But hey, at least is kinda...

My children and I visited Jack's for our first visit last week, and I honestly think we may have just caught them on a bad day. We came in just before the lunch rush started and there were three other small groups in the restaurant with us at the time, with one of them being ahead of us at the register while the other two were waiting for their food.

Between the time we ordered and the time our food was called ready for us was sixteen minutes. The two workers I could see- I could hear at least two others in the section where I couldn't see them- were constantly talking badly about their coworkers who had taken their breaks and complaining about poor management as they ran back and forth. Several more groups and singles came in while we waited for our food, several of them doordashers, who I also heard complaining about how slow Jack's service is.

The burger I ordered was all right, not bland, but also not overly flavorful. The fries, on the other hand, were completely COVERED in seasoning, making it inedible, and I ended up bringing them home to my chickens so they wouldn't go to waste. The ice cream scoops we ordered - which I had to wait another eight minutes for after we had finished our food -was the saving grace of the entire meal because it was super delicious and tasted more like homemade than commercial.

I truly hope that this was a one-time fluke and that this experience isn't the norm. I want to come back and at least give their breakfast menu a try, though I think I'll go through the drive...

Georgia, Jodi, Joe, Austin, Hope, and Cooper provided an absolutely outstanding experience!

The first thing that caught my attention was the restaurant’s health inspection score—100%! As a former GM and restaurant owner, I know firsthand the dedication and effort it takes to achieve a perfect score. That level of excellence is truly commendable.

Next, I couldn’t help but notice how spotless the entire restaurant and parking lot were. If you’ve visited other nearby establishments, you’ll understand why this stood out. Exceptional job!

The staff’s friendliness and professionalism were also remarkable. Every interaction was filled with "please" and "thank you," with a level of respect that is often rare in the restaurant industry. What’s even more impressive? Every single employee upheld this standard, regardless of whether a manager was present.

The food quality was phenomenal—fresh, hot, and served with a smile.

And let’s talk about value! The $6 meal deals are an unbeatable bargain. Where else can you enjoy a hearty, Southern-cooked meal for just $6?

We left beyond satisfied and will absolutely be returning. If the GM sees this, please make sure to recognize and appreciate this incredible team—it’s rare to find such dedicated, polite, and hardworking employees.
