Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews, and I especially don’t usually leave bad reviews but I have to say I was unfortunately pretty disappointed in my meal here.
I was pretty excited to try this place out, had to wait about 50 minutes to get in which was ok because inside looked cute, but man when we actually sat down and ordered food there was a very large gap between the prices and portions offered. I ordered a waffle for $15 figuring for that price it had to be large, or come with sides or have a stack or something, and was brought exactly one small, flat waffle with two slices of banana, half a strawberry and a slice of apple. I’d say the mass amounted to about two eggo waffles worth of waffle. Was it tasty? Sure, but I could have probably eaten about 4-5 of them before getting full. Should you have to spend $60 to fill up on diner breakfast? That’s for you to decide.
I wanted to supplement it with a side of potatoes, until I saw that a single order of a side of potatoes was $8. Side of bacon? $8. I find that frankly ridiculous for what were some very normal tasting diner/cafe food.
My friend got a regular omelet and side of potatoes for $17, again it felt like an incredibly steep price for a very modest serving of normal tasting food.
In the end, my friend and I quickly finished our $40 breakfast after we were served (which wasn’t hard considering the portions), got up and headed somewhere else to actually fill up for breakfast.
Bums me out to leave this review, but I’m generally always looking for any things to love about wherever I’m eating, so it’s very rare I leave a meal feeling as genuinely disappointed as I did here. Service was great and the restaurant is very cute, but I will not be coming back here for...
Read moreThe place is nice with a great atmosphere, and smelled great. The people were very friendly. But I don't go for just a nice place with friendly people. The food matters too. The food was average at best, and at $45 plus tip on a simple breakfast for two, it should be very good, even great. It was not. Hot chocolate was lukewarm, nowhere close to hot. Asked for a little bit of whipped topping (when asked if I wanted any), and the mug was half whipped topping, on top of lukewarm chocolate. On the John's Special breakfast, the potatoes had almost no flavor, were greasy, and were lukewarm. The poached eggs were slightly overcooked. I didn't even eat half of it. The best things were the English muffin, which I used the table raspberry jam/syrup on. That was fantastic! And the side of bacon I had to order ($6.95 on top of $14.95 for John's that wasn't so special or not much food) since almost no breakfast came with either bacon or ham or sausage, was fantastic as well! The server, who was very nice, never came back to the table one single time to ask how anything was. When he came with the food, I told him the chocolate was cold, and he took it to be heated. There was only half of a cup of chocolate, since the rest was the topping. When it came back, I think the kitchen must have been mad, because they made it so hot, it was untouchable for over five minutes. Upon checkout, when asked how the meal was, I politely mentioned the hot chocolate was not hot. She said "I'm so sorry", and then said, "and I'm sorry but we don't take plastic, only cash". I didn't bother with anything else, since it was clear it wasn't going to matter. I was not impressed, and will not go back, even though we live...
