I happened to read reviews and chose here for my family to dine and also because it was a restaurant that was open for dinner after 8:00. Actually they stayed open until 9:00 which worked for us getting there well after the 8:00 hour. My daughter ate off of our clam chowder cups because her burger was so pathetic. Though she ordered a cheeseburger, it looked like a hamburger from McDonald's at should be on the $1-$3 menu. The only reason our daughter even considered eating some clam chowder is because it tasted like a bland potato soup. She doesn't really care for fish, thus no clam chowder and a burger is what she ordered. I asked for lettuce and tomato for her burger. No tomatoes and lettuce given that would be from a bagged lettuce more for salad than a burger. She ate the mediocre burger, possibly in just a couple of bites. She was asked if she wanted everything on her burger, after they answered the question of what everything consisted of. She opted for no onions, and no mustard. So pickles, lettuce, tomato and cheese should had been added. A pathetic patty in a pathetic very small bun, wrapped in paper like McDonald's was given and was just unacceptable. Come on, a burger is not difficult to look appealing and taste appetizing. My husband opted for slaw instead of fries. Not sure they taste it. Lacking there as well. The fish was like chicken tenders and they need to add spices and salt to the batter. Just boring. We were there on a Wednesday night, which I saw online a BBB special for $9.99 or something like that. Beer, Bottomless basket of fries and a burger. Well, we mentioned that and were told because of Spring break they didn't have that special. There was hardly anyone there, possibly because of the time closer to closing. Can't say for certain, but it should have been allowed since I mentioned that I saw the special. Perhaps it would bring more patrons in to dine. But fix that burger! I never leave bad reviews. I think people gravitate to the negative. However, you guys should fix these very easy fixes. The owner, we believe he was the owner, possibly Tom? Anyhow he was very nice and hospitable with conversation, and I'm almost apologetic or feeling bad to leave such a harsh review. 😕 Almost. I just think all...
Read moreAwful food and terrible service. This was a bad choice for lunch on an otherwise pleasant Saturday afternoon in Cannon Beach. If you order clam chowder, the first they do is put it on a your order pickup tray to get cold while other items are being prepared. After that the soggy fries are added and then possibly the worst burger ever comes next and your order is ready for pickup. After one bite of the burger, I returned it to the counter - it was cold, the bun cold and untoasted with the only other thing on the burger being about 1/4 cup of combined ketchup and mustard with a pickle. I've complained about food at a restaurant maybe once or twice in my 54 year life, I never do this but I guess this was a special occasion. The young man at the counter was rude and refused a refund. I suggested a better burger could likely be found at Mc Donald's and he started to suggest I should go there. Amazing. Lastly, while not serving up lousy food, the staff in the "kitchen" and the young man who "helped" me were laughing at a video they were watching on a smartphone. I get it, it's a Cannon Beach tourist trap that no local would ever go to, but it was awful. We live in Oregon, go to Cannon Beach regularly, but...
Read moreI had a great experience dining at Tom's Fish and Chips. It’s a very enjoyable and welcoming place to eat, with a classic casual atmosphere perfect for families, friends, or even a quick solo meal. The day I visited, the restaurant was packed—understandably so, since it was a weekend evening—but even with the crowd, the staff handled everything smoothly and professionally. It was a bit loud due to how busy it was, but that’s to be expected when a place is this popular.
Despite the full house, our food came out impressively fast. We ordered for a group of six, and everything was on the table within about 15 minutes. That kind of speed, especially with a larger order, really stood out. The food itself was excellent. Everything we ordered was hot, fresh, and flavorful. The fish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the chips were golden, the burgers were very savory as well.
Portions were generous, and prices were fair for the quality and quantity. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. Overall, Tom's Fish and Chips delivered a great experience, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone in the area looking for quality...
