I cannot give this more than one star no matter how well our server was because my problem was noticeably from the top down and was severe.
My girlfriend ordered the sirloin medium on the same night of this review. At our table of three, the atmosphere was symmetric to a Ruby Tuesday and the food came out at a reasonable pace. But... My girlfriend cut into her steak, and it was as raw as you can have it. So the first time in both our lives we sent it back because it was almost inedible, mind you, if it comes out anywhere from rare to med well we probably would let it be; we really aren't that picky.
The server agreed, we gave the steak back and waited. It was about 5 minutes and we got it back; not long. The server even mentioned that it's probably well done now because she knew just from looking at it that it was, it was obvious. So we opened this one up and it was beyond well done, it was tanned and ready to be made into boot leather. She was going to eat it but I told her not too because I could tell she was not happy at all. So for the second time in our lives, we sent food back.
The server came back to ask about the steak. We told her it's too well, she said "I told the manager," in whom she said cooked it, "I don't want to take this out." In which she was told again to do so. So now the manager that cooked this, I'm sure knew it was well done when he sent it, had a server do what he should have done; bring it to us himself. Even the server mentioned he should have brought it out to us. Anyway she took it back.
At this point me and my son were done eating and they made the steak to go and took three dollars off of a 19 dollar disaster. When we were paying and talking to the server, I saw someone dressed as a manager come up to a p.o.s. station looking at our table. This is only an assumption but after working in restaurants in the past I figured it was the manager that orchestrated this disaster wanted to see who the complaints were from. We're not picky, the steaks were actually disgusting. We knew it wasn't the servers fault so we tipped well and left.
Well, it's not over... We get home and cut open the steak, to our surprise, it was perfect medium. Not seasoned, but cooked exactly right. So she eats half of it but then, says she gets sick from it and vomits in the bathroom for a bit. I'm not sure what's going on whether it's in her mind or something was done to it but nevertheless, it was part of the experience. And as of now, that 16$ is in the trash, this was our first and last of O'charleys because I could forgive the workers, but the worst problems come from the top. It was not good.
I wanted to give more stars because our server was great and my food wasn't bad. But I just cannot recommend this restaurant from that experience. What's funny is me and my son go to bad reputation restaurants on purpose for fun all the time and end up having a great time at them. We weren't even doing this tonight because we had mom, and it turned out worse. I'm saddened by my girls experience as is our son, it was supposed to be her night. Now she is sick and feels we wasted our money. Writing this fresh after happening, sitting on it, thinking... I hate this place and I feel bad for our server. She did not like that manager.

Read moreI went to O’Charley’s today for my birthday and had probably the worst experience ever at a restaurant. After about 25 minutes to be seated it took 10-15 for our waitress to come and take our drink order. I don’t know her name because she didn’t take the time to tell us. Then we waited about 10-15 minutes to get our waters, bring some bread, and take our order which we had ready before she came to take the drink order. Then our five and two year waited patiently for more bread (they never offered kids menus) and we waited to have water refills and waited for our food. We watched as three different families ordered, got their food, ate, and left. At that point it has been an hour and the kids were no longer wanting to wait for more bread or their food they were asking to go home. We weren’t able to ever catch our waitress since she never came by our table. My Dad got up to ask how long when she was at a table taking an order. He waited until she wasn’t talking and said excuse me how much longer before the food is ready? (He should have waited until she was done taking the order but I think he was afraid she would run off before he could say anything.) Then she blew up loudly about how rude he was being. Everyone in the area was looking. She said she didn’t cook the food and ran off to taddle to the manager about how rude my Dad was being. All we wanted to know was how much longer. Happy Birthday lunch to me! Please train your waitress to be more considerate of people. And yes I have work in the restaurant industry. Terrible experience although Mamma’s cooking at home was...
Read moreI'm not really a fan of this facility.. their restrooms are quite filthy, and the feeling inside is very very dated and old school chain restaurant. We do order take out from here occasionally because their food is still decent quality. Last night we ordered take out and the whole idea of "curbside" doesn't even exist. Applebee's does a better job at this than OCharleys.. you have to go inside to pick up off their take out table. If you're lucky, it'll take less than 10 min beyond the promised time to get your food, but DO NOT leave until you check to make sure it's all in the bag. I've made that mistake twice now. Something always seems to be missing. Maybe the dine in experience is different, but take out has been a headache. While waiting for my sides that's weren't in my initial to go bag that I didn't discover until I got home then had to go back to pick up, there were 2 uber/doordash/etc drivers the complaining about how they never want to accept deliveries from here and some other notoriously slow and inaccurate restaurants. I do feel for the staff at these places which is why I'm always kind to them even when they mess up my order despite my frustrations. However, other restaurants have gotten a hold on post pandemic differences and really thrived from the new opportunities and it's sad to see that not every place has taken this opportunity to improve. I would prefer to see OCharleys improve vs discontinue my patronage to their chain, however I cannot recommend this as a currently positive experience as an...
