Smash Shack — Restaurant in Cape May

Went on a recommendation from a relative, told me to try their spicy Mac and cheese burger. Said it was the best burger he ever had. When I arrived they told me that was only a special and that they didn’t have anymore. Was initially sad but not a minute later the chef comes up and says he saved some of the spicy jam from yesterday for just such an ‘emergency’ and asked if I wanted him to make it still. I said yes and when I got it I was blown away. It wasn’t too spicy and had plenty of Mac and cheese on it. It’s definitely one of if not the best burger I’ve had! Will definitely be making this place a regular part of my trips to the area...

Perfectly average smash burger, but underwhelming for $8.

I decided to stop by for a quick burger for my 4-year-old to eat in the wagon on the way to the beach, but ended up waiting for our order longer than expected, especially since they weren't crowded and smash burgers are on and off the griddle pretty quickly, so not sure what the hold up was.

Also, the seating area is shared by the taco and juice stand, so thankfully we were taking our burger to go, as all of the seats were taken at an off-peak hour...

Stayed out in Ventnor City and visited Cape May for the day with the family. Lots of good food options in the area but we opted to sit outside at the Smash Shack, great setting right on Beach Ave amongst all the shops. Their cheesesteak with cooper sharp and onions was one of the best I’ve ever had. Soft roll, flavorful steak, and perfectly cooked onions with that incredible cheese. Exactly what I was looking for. Would definitely seek this place out next time we are...
