Please note that their response below does not address the fact that all of a sudden their staff are getting rather nosy.
I go to many Chin's Szechwan AND Chin's Gourmet locations (same family, battling siblings, i guess).
A disturbing trend at the Chin's Szechwan locations is that the normally very nice and efficient servers have been meddling with me and my companions during my meals. Talking about personal topics... Interjecting into conversations and business.
It appears to be a trained behavior. I noticed it within the last 6 weeks, maybe. They are nice people and I've never had a problem until this started. They're not being malicious, they are just "not reading the room." Whoever trained them has actually hurt their tips. Once a sweet waitress starts in on the topic of intimacy, I recoil.
Fill my water, don't ask a question about how my female companion keeps me company.
With my sense of humor, I really wanted to go into a graphic sex description and to invite the waitress to join us... My very platonic friend is very religious and probably would have been angry at such filth. But that's how personal these wait staff have become.
This is the third Chin's Szechwan that I now will not go to because of this. I wish there were more Chin's Gourmet locations...
Oh, I haven't even mentioned how these different restaurants have different levels of spiciness. A number two level of spiciness varies between Oceanside, Carlsbad...
Read moreToday is Wednesday 8-28-24. My wife (Denise ) ,and I decided to try this place. I had a good feeling when I saw a worker cleaning the 2 front glass doors ( inside and out) right before they opened up. First impressions count, and I like clean glass doors free of handprints and dirt. Inside was clean, and we'll kept. Place looks nice and great designs and decor. Server, I forgot her name, she was very nice and helpful . Food presentation was very nicely done. Food was Deelicious! Female server asked how hot we like our food, a 1 being mild ,to a 5 being super hot, to know what sauces we needed. I had a hot tea, my usual, and I dislike teabags from a Chinese restaurant, but I'll take it, but no tea bags here. no tea bags here, the real deal, Chin's had the good stuff, and by that I mean the tea grinding with All the tea and herbal flower looking stuff in a metal infusion container in the hot water. Was in a heavy metal fancy tea pot, nice 👌. Great atmosphere. Deelicious food. Friendly staff. Highly...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing experience here on Father’s Day with a party of 8. From the moment we arrived around 5:00 pm, we were told we needed to be done by 6:30 pm because they had to put two tables together for us, which felt rushed and unwelcoming.
The service was poor from start to finish. Our server accidentally spilled a drink on my mom and didn’t seem very apologetic. The food took a very long time to arrive, and they completely forgot to bring out meals for both my mom and my sister in law, even after we reminded them multiple times. Their plates were finally brought out after everyone else had already finished eating.
Nobody checked on us for drink refills or to see how things were going. For a bill that totaled around $340, we still left a $40 tip out of courtesy, though I honestly didn’t feel it was deserved. The food itself wasn’t anything special either.
Overall, we were extremely disappointed and wish we had gone somewhere else. We definitely won’t be...
