Pizza Inn — Restaurant in Carlsbad

I've had this place on my radar for months now. We finally went in. All I can say is that I'm glad that there is a Taco Bell next door.

We walked in to buy a pie and then decided to eat in since we saw they had a buffet. We were completely ignored standing in the front so we took it upon ourselves to find our own table. A waitress eventually made her way over to ask what we wanted to drink and was polite. There may have been two other families eating in so it wasn't busy.

The pizza quality to me was a step below frozen pizza. It has that old Chuck Cheese feel to me. They have a pizza called baked potato that taste like drying mash potato and cheese on a piece of flatbread. All the pizzas we tried were unremarkable. We never received a drink refill.

My 4 year old Son wanted to play games because he saw there was a game room in the back. I took him back there and played a few dollars worth of games with him. Every arcade game cost a dollar to play! Needless to say, we weren't dropping a dollar to play a game every minute or two.

I really wanted to like this place. It's just not that great. When we left, we pulled in next door to Taco Bell and got some more food because we were unsatisfied with the buffet.

We will not be re-visiting this location in Carlsbad. The 2 times we have been there we have not been impressed with the employees. 1st off-The tables were full of plates from previous people who ate and the workers didn’t bust the tables off. Secondly- the workers were just standing around chit chatting instead of working. Thirdly- one of the employees who works there not sure if she’s a waitress or what, but she is not friendly and her customer service sucks along with her boyfriend who comes and just sits and doesn’t eat and she’s constantly talking to him instead of checking on customers. Fourthly- the employees just walk up and eat off the food/buffet line using no plates or anything while there are customers in the dining room instead of using their lunch breaks to do so. As for the food it’s hit or miss though, sometimes the pizza is just luke warm instead of fresh and the salad bar/veggies aren’t always the best looking like the salad is brown or the cucumbers are soggy. The pizza is always being made and or is being brought out fresh.

The salad bar is very popular, the sides are always stocked with ranch, sunflower seeds, bacon bits, and croutons ect. The ranch is delicious! There's also a small section for chicken nuggets, white Alfredo pasta, Mac & cheese, and spaghetti. The atmosphere is occasionally quiet but can get loud due to when customerss have parties towards the very back where the arcade/play area is.

The service is always spot on, I don't know the gentlemen's name but he is always very courteous,and knowledgeable ALWAYS letting customers know which items are coming out fresh and hot, taking used plates, and refilling drinks when we go.
