Emigrante Gastrobar — Restaurant in Carolina

We went for the Friday jazz night, and while the music was excellent, the overall service left a lot to be desired. We started at the bar but quickly moved to a table because the bartender was very loud, talking over the music and throwing bottles into the trash, which constantly interrupted both the performance and our conversations.

Drinks were another issue—something as simple as a chilled vodka on the rocks took 15 minutes to reach our table. We ordered two appetizers: a charcuterie board, which was the smallest I’ve ever seen, and the beef and cheese kabobs (“pinchos”). Unfortunately, the meat was overcooked, tough, and the portion size was disappointing. Based on that experience, we decided not to order a full meal.

When it came time to leave, we waited another 10 minutes just to get the check, even after asking multiple times. To make matters worse, we were charged for more drinks than we had ordered, which felt both unprofessional and careless.

Emigrante is a very cozy and centrally-located restaurant in the Main Avenue, right next to the highway that runs along the coast. Not much parking outside. The food was delicious and it had a variety of seafood options. Great selection of little wines, with somewhat affordable prices for a hotel restaurant. The night we went it was quite empty, but I could imagine on a weekend it would be a place to be. The waitresses were very friendly and checked on us often. Same as a bartender. I bought their breakfast and immediately regretted it. Total waste of money; all of the food was stale. The eggs were room temperature and stiff, the meats were overcooked and stale, the potatoes were hard & stale, the waffle was cool & stale, the little powdered donut stale. The only fresh items I had were the toast, juice, & coffee. Though the staff was great, the food was extremely overpriced and not at all worth the cost ($20). I regret not walking next door to Burger King....
