This place is trash. Food isn't something that you need to go here for. Service here is at a pathetic level to be anything functioning at a restaurant. Asked the server for some small plates for kids to which I was met with a smart-alic answer of..."okay...can you give me some time?" Trust me...wasn't a simple request for time...it was a can you see I'm busy attitude. I get that you may be busy but I don't know why you decide having one person at the front is acceptable. No doubt your busting you butt out there but sorry to say it's not enough and its not working...you need to change something.
My food took 30 mins from time of order. Yall may be thinking this was packed restaurant...no 5 tables. I also don't understand why food came later than other people's food order, ordering after mine. In fact they left before I even got my food. I ordered a pork donkatsu. Don't know why you're giving me attitude when I had to get it to go when you took that long.
By the way, thanks for the small plates I still never got or the request for extra sauce. My wife and to go up and grab a to go Styrofoam container and Mcgueiver it to make two small plates for our kids.
Save your money and go somewhere more respectable that will understand its a place to serve you and respect you. No one decides to go to a resturant and tells themselves, "oh, i think i want to be treated like trash while i eat." Kurabuta has better quality and tasting food than this place.
BTW it was the owner I believe. Always wears black.
These are the types of reviews you really wish Google had something lower than 1 star.
UPDATE

went back thinking things may have changed. It hasn't. In fact it got busy and a family had thier kid accidentally drop a soy sauce bottle and break it. Didn't like that the owner was cleaning it and cussing in...
Read moreThis was such a unique dining experience. It is so fun to try new things! This is a great Japanese comfort food restaurant in Carrollton that is located in a shopping center with predominantly Asian restaurants. You could enjoy a different restaurant everyday in this area and it would take quite some time to exhaust them all.
The decor is minimalist and very clean. The tables are pretty large and would fit multiple items or large bento boxes and not be crowded. We ordered unsweetened ice tea and it is freshly brewed which was appreciated. We started out with the Sunomono (cucumber salad with vinaigrette dressing and shredded crab.) This was such a delicious, light and refreshing appetizer that I would definitely get again.
For our entrees we ordered the Unagi Ekiben containing grilled fresh water eel with Japanese style side dishes over rice. The Ekiben was served with shrimp tempura, miso soup, and side salad. I rarely eat tempura but the shrimp was absolutely delish dipped in the vinaigrette that was in the cucumber salad. Wow! It was a flavor explosion and perfectly crispy. The eel combined with the Japanese fresh pickles was an abolute umami bomb and I loved it. It was fantastic. My husband ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box and enjoyed (that tempura yam!) although the chicken was a touch dry and he said he would probably order the eel next. The menu has so many nice choices that it was difficult to make a decision! Oh well! I guess I better go again some day and try some more of Abe's delicious morsels!
I highly recommend this restaurant. You can tell the owners operate...
Read morePre-COVID, Abe was one of my crowd's very favorite places to eat. I'm a chef, and I'd always take visiting chef friends and foodies there for a wonderfully diverse and delicious dining experience.
Recently, the restaurant has renovated and updated their concept. (Now you order at a kiosk when you enter, and then the food is delivered to your table.) I actually very much like this concept and look forward to it becoming more popular in the industry here in the US.
I'm also happy to report that the food is every bit as good as it always was. The standouts on the menu are the okonomiyaki (savory seafood pancake) and takoyaki (octopus "dumplings"), which are as good as I've had anywhere in the world, but most specifically, the karaage (crispy chicken wings sauced in a pungent garlic ginger sauce).
I love karaage, and I order it every chance I get. But because Abe's karaage is the very first karaage I ever tasted, maybe 15 years ago, all other karaages I've tried, including in Japan, have failed to match up. The chicken is impossibly crispy, despite being heavily sauced, and I just don't understand how they get so much FLAVOR into that sauce. It literally explodes in your mouth.
With an embarrassment of options to dine in the immediate area, Abe stands out as my...
