I love Maht Gaek! I'd say their seafood pancake is the best I've had in DFW. It's bigger and has more seafood than other places, and is a little different. Other dishes I'd recommend here are their galbi and budaejiggae (army stew). Both of these are super flavorful and has a ton to eat. I always bring back leftovers for more meals when I come here. I've also tried their pork neck soup, which has a huge stack of meat. It gets pretty messy though since they're all meat on bones, and I personally prefer the army stew flavor. There's typically a wait here, but it's worth!
1/12 Update: Wanted to update for their kalbijjim. I haven’t seen another restaurant in the DFW offer this dish with the torched cheese. Slightly pricey $75 but definitely enough for 2-3 people to share. There was potatoes, rice cake, and braised short ribs in it....
Read moreK Style. K Taste, but expensive $$$. 맛객 (Maht Gaek) literally means a traveler looking for tasty food. They do offer authentic K food. Their ban chan (side dish) is top rate. I remember them serving a few more side dishes in the past though. Their K stews are great. They will probably do good even in Gang Nam (prestigious part in Seoul) against other K restaurants. Just like everything else in the United States, their prices have gone up significantly. But I believe that they have increased more than other competing restaurants. Nonetheless, they still serve one of the better K food in DFW. Their K BBQ is just ok. So, if you are a meat eater like me, go try other K BBQ restaurants. The restaurant is located in the HMART shopping center, so expect some waiting during the weekends...
Read moreAbsolutely obsessed with Maht Gaek Carrollton! This place is a hidden gem that delivers every single time. The house ribs are incredible — tender, flavorful, and braised in a rich, deeply savory sauce that hits all the right notes of sweet and salty. I crave them constantly.
The crunchy seafood pancake is another standout — perfectly crisp on the outside, loaded with fresh seafood and scallions, and incredibly satisfying. And the spicy buckwheat noodles? So good. They’re cool, spicy, and tangy — the perfect contrast to the heartier dishes.
I keep going back again and again because everything on the menu ranges from solid to downright excellent. It’s rare to find a place where you can close your eyes, point at anything on the menu, and be guaranteed a great meal. Maht Gaek...
