My brother in Burbank,CA area and I were talking on the phone. He was wanting BBQ and I told him about Dickey’s and how it was one of my favorite BBQ places to go to eat. I explained that I always ordered the brisket and sausage as the 3 meat meal, with fried okra as my 2 sides. My husband and I weren’t feeling too much for sausage this time and ordered all 3meats as brisket. Of course I ordered the 2 sides with okra and my husband was going to try the brisket chili as his 2 sides. We ordered the toast verses the roll. The gentleman that took our order had to step away. Another gentleman took over. He had started the toast and was slicing the meat. I understand with the economy that the prices would be more than the last time I ate there. I was always given generous portions of meat. With the brisket the fat was always cut off to not offset the weight. This time was some fatty slices. The meat was on the drier side and was tender enough. I asked the gentleman placing my meat on my tray, that I remembered more than that for a 3 meat plate. He explained that it was the amount showing on the paper for required ounces. He proceeded to serve the chili and it was dry. The container was smaller then I remembered and wasn’t filled but 3/4 of the way. My husband had to add BBQ sauce to eat it. My okra was fine and was also smaller amount than I remembered. The original gentleman that took our order gave us a roll instead of the toast. Knowing our order which he took in the first place. I reminded him of our order. He said that he would bring the toast to us, which he did. My husband was filling our drink when our toast was served. My husband came back to the table with our drink and a bag. I thought it was for my spices I purchased and any leftover containers. I apparently had the container of our toast out of his sight. He thought that it was our toast. A customer came in looking for his order. The 2 employees were wondering where they had placed the order. My husband, thought was our toast, looked in the bag and saw it was the man’s order. He took the order to the counter, to the employee that handed it to him. The employees didn’t make a new order for this customer, and gave the customer the bag my husband returned at the same time. How would the employee know that we hadn’t been in that container? The tables were dirty and it looked like the floors had not been mopped in quite some time. This was not the restaurant or dream team I was accustomed to being served by more properly. Luckily we found 1 of 2 tables clean or at least no food on them. The store was not busy and only one other family was there besides us. My neighbor had said to me the same things I mentioned when I asked if he ate there lately. I tried to load the pictures I took but apparently I can’t load them here, so I guess you will have to take my word for it. The whole restaurant was in a disarray even with the cutlery they did not realize was empty, until my husband explained there wasn’t any forks and needed one. Sorry not my fav BBQ restaurant anymore. especially driving almost 45...
Read moreDickey's has been consistently great food. This location had flavorful food. Just what we expected. Brisket was on point. Ribs were amazing. Pulled pork was moist. Mac n Cheese was cheesy goodness! Fried Okra, was great! Beans were pretty good.
On the plus side, they have FREE soft serve ice cream!!!
We didn't order a drink, but if you do, you can add some ice cream to your root beer and have a root beer float!
You're Welcome!
I took off a star because the service is a bit spotty. The two employees seemed a bit snippy.
Took my parents here for the first time. Felt a little ashamed to take them to this location after the attitude given by the two employees when we asked a few questions about the menu.
Still, if you can get over the attitude. The food is good. Just be choosy about what you order. You can make it a cheap meal or you can make it an expensive meal. Overall, if you order right, this can be an affordable...
