I was super excited to support and try a new sushi place in town! I heard very mixed things prior to going but wanted to make that decision for myself with my own experience.

Looking at the menu choices were enticing! They were different from other places i've been before and was looking forward to it! The environment itself was very clean and bright and the service was okay.

I got Mussels as an appetizer and the temperature was inconsistent (most were cold and one was warm) so I figured "oh, maybe they just serve them differently from other places." I also ordered takoyaki and got something else by mistake that I wasn't able to eat due to a food allergy. Our rolls arrived and they all tasted the same. Another roll arrived and I specifically asked for no avocado because I am severely allergic to it and it arrived with avocado. Mistakes happen! No big deal. I get it. So I sent it back and the waitress seemed a little irritated. Which also, understandable.

Our waitress came back and asked how our food was. We hadn't touched much of it. We wanted to be honest, and mentioned that it was a bit bland and that the rolls tasted alike despite being different. She told us she would have the manager come over to speak to us.

The manager came by and we iterated what we had told our waitress; that the rolls tasted the same, ect. In hopes that perhaps we could have them re-made. He immediately said that everyone has different tastes and that he's "never had not one single person complain about the food." We had mentioned that we just wanted to bring it to his attention. And that the waitress asked and we gave her an honest answer. The manager kept reiterate that everyone's taste is different and that no one ever complains and continued on to say "I don't know what you expect me to do about this. I'm not just going to give out free food." Clearly the conversation wasn't going anywhere productive. We never asked for free food. He got very defensive very quickly. After that uncomfortable conversation; we were waiting for our check to pay, and noticed the manager talking to his waitresses and chefs and looking in our direction quite obviously talking about the situation that had just occurred. He seem very visibly upset as if we had attacked him personally. At this point we were all very uncomfortable. We got our check, we paid it and left. We barely touched our food; so it was all still on the table and paid almost $100.

I'm not one to normally post a bad review and I understand how poorly it can effect a small business; but this was important to me to post this because I don't want anyone else to have this uncomfortable of...

I want to start by saying I’m not one to ever write reviews and I had zero intentions to, until our interaction with the manager. We got mussels that were cold and sitting in cold broth and the entree and rolls were all bland. Everything almost tasting exactly the same because it all lacked flavor. When our server asked how everything was, I mentioned these things and she said she would have the manager come over. When I reiterated everything to him, he immediately became defensive saying everyone has their own taste, we were the first to ever complain since they opened, and that there was nothing he could do about it so he didn’t know what we expected, insinuating we were expecting a free meal. Mind you, a majority of the food remained on the table when we left. I told him that I never said I expected anything but my intention was to inform them of how I felt the food was. He continued to push and repeat himself a few times that nobody complains and he’s not going to give us free food just because we have different taste than other people. He clearly had an uneasy and almost confrontational demeanor. Once he left and we waited for our bill, we could obviously see him telling other staff about us. As if it wasn’t already uncomfortable enough. We never asked for anything, only offered honest feedback when we were asked and it was clearly not received well and seemed to be taken very personally. Even if the food was good, that interaction alone would make me never return and dissuade...

I really wanted to like Ganbaru. Any new sushi place is one that I'd like to support, but the food was pretty disappointing. I got excited seeing all the spicy flavorful sounding rolls, but when I received them none of them were spicy at all, they didn't have a ton of flavor, and I was a bit worried about food poisoning because they didn't sit super well when I ate them. Thankfully I did not wind up getting food poisoning, but I did feel kinda gross for a bit after.

Very worth noting I got AYCE at lunch time. It was overall an okay experience. It was quiet and uncomfortable though, not super friendly, food wasn't very good, service wasn't bad but I was one of two people there. I genuinely hope they improve the flavor and atmosphere because I think that would go a long way, but seeing the other people who have left negative reviews and their alleged interactions with the manager I'm not sure.

TL;DR, I don't regret eating it, but I will probably not be returning unless someone invites me and gives me reason to believe it's...

My family & I tried this place out & were pleasantly surprised. The menu had some rolls we hadn't tried along with our regulars. Everything was very tasty & fresh. The rolls were the perfect size for us. Our daughters ordered the salmon platter & the tempura shrimp platter. Both of those were good also. The salmon platter was exceptional! We all had the tempura bananas for dessert which were yummy too. The waitresses we had were very friendly & kept our drinks full. The sushi chefs forgot a couple of the rolls we had ordered, but that's the only thing I can say that wasn't great (but even with that, they made the rolls as soon as we mentioned a couple were forgotten & apologized). The restaurant itself is very bright, clean & inviting. We will definitely be back!

Finally tried this place! First let me say the service was great! I wish I got our servers name because she was very attentive. We got all you can eat at $33. They didn't offer us a punch card and I forgot to ask. The sushi was just ok. All the rolls we got tasted like salmon so I kept checking the menu to see if I ordered the wrong roll but I didn't. All the rolls we ordered were either shrimp tempura and or crab. As I was watching the chefs using the same knife to slice the fish and cut the rolls and same rag to wipe the counter as well as the knives is when I made the connection as to why everything tasted like salmon! I most likely won't go back but if you want to try go during lunch so you're not paying the $33!!! cost for dinner!

The [place looks fine on the outside and the dining room is clean and bright, but that's about it. The service was poor and the girl had very little knowledge of the sushi and didn't even bring us plates for the setups. We had to ask for more wasabi and ginger. The fish wasn't the best, and was cut too small. The rice was OK, though. The only fish that was tender was the salmon. The rill are rolled very small, but that wouldn't be bad if they were sliced properly to get a decent amount of sushi in you mouth with each piece. They Were sliced like they were COINS! Please turn the music down , it way too loud. I'd skip this place , for the price there are other places in Carson.
