This is why you don't judge a book by its cover... Or in this case don't a restaurant by its exterior (rather plain looking building). We went in for dinner and were immediately greeted and sat (I did reserve a table). The gentleman Chris immediately offered water and inquired about beverages. We ordered the Eggplant Parmesan and the Clams & Linguini. Meals include soup or salad, I had the Italian Wedding soup and my guy had a garden salad. The salad was big and beautiful... The soup was amazing, very obviously homemade from a traditional Italian recipe, tender meatballs and the broth was perfect! Now for the meals... My eggplant Parm was served with spaghetti and homemade marinara. I don't even know if I can relate exactly how delicious it was!!! The Eggplant had a nice crisp and perfect chew to it. Eggplant is tricky, it has to be pre-soaked so as not to absorb the oil, this was done perfectly. The Mariana was so so good, chunky and thick, really just perfectly made. The Clams and Linguini was excellenty prepared, pasta slightly al dente, the sauce was seasoned perfectly. The kicker on this dish is the Italian sausage that was part of the dish. It is made by a local business using the owners personal recipe, wow just delicious!! You can tell that the owner puts his tradition and love into his food. Chris our waiter has old school server skill; attentive but not over the top, pre-bussed dishes, offered refills on drinks, he knew the menu well and clearly took great pride in his job. I rarely go out for Italian food, my family is from Sicily. I am only a 3rd generation American, my family brought their recipies over so I'm pretty picky and usually a bit let down by the places I've had Italian food in. Mangia Tutto was a surprising exception. There is a light spiciness to the sauces and sausage that took it to the next level. For dessert we shared a cannoli, with a light drizzle of raspberry and chocolate... Crunchy and sweet just as it should be!
I really look forward to trying other dishes. Oh and very generous...
Read moreWe have been wanting to try the Chicago Deep Dish they offer and finally did last weekend. There was a mix up with orders and we didn't get ours when we went to pick it up. Understanding that things happen in the service industry and really wanting to find a good authentic Chicago Deep Dish as well as good Italian food we gave it another shot and ordered for pick up again. Right away they asked if we were the one's who had a mix up over the weekend, apologized and thanked us for coming back at all and so soon. They offered my husband a beverage while he waited 5 minutes to finish order. I noticed they changed how they took names for pick up orders which was very proactive and smart on their part. They treated my husband as not just another person coming through the door but as someone they want to continue coming back for a long time and that is what customer service is. Now the food.....OMG so good. I don't often eat deep dish because it can be soggy in the middle. This has to be the best and as authentic Chicago Deep dish I have ever had. Crunchy crust, fresh ingredients and used correctly. We ordered other things and it was all delicious and you knew they made everything from scratch. We will definitely be back to enjoy their restaurant for sit down and for pick up. Thank you for bringing good food to a town that is prodomitly casino type food. We love real, fresh and authentic places and it's hard to find nowadays with so many chain restaurants. I look forward to trying everything...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in for dinner when we were in the area for a few days. We lived in the Midwest until recently and I have had authentic Chicago deep dish pizza in Chicago many times. This is one of the best I have ever had outside of the Chicago area!
I like deep dish pizza period, but true Chicago style is different. The crust needs to be slightly crispy and flakey, but not too crisp and not falling apart flakey. There also needs to be just a hint of sweetness in the crust, but not too sweet. There needs to be sauce, but also hunks of tomato's and plenty of flavor. This place got it right in all areas.
They let you know in the menu that ordering the deep dish will take longer and our server also made sure we knew how long it would take. Any true Chicago style deep dish pizza will take 20 to 45 minutes to cook properly. It was worth the wait.
We ordered a large pizza, I had a beer and my wife had a glass of wine, so don't let the price category make you think it's overpriced, because it's not.
Thanks Mangia Tutto for great Chicago style deep dish pizza! I never would have thought to go to Carson City, NV to get this. Too bad I live four and a half hours away or I would be a regular!
The left overs were just as good reheated in a...
