Shakey's Pizza Parlor — Restaurant in Carson

I am an old school fan of Shakey's Pizza, however, my visit on this particular day was horrible. There was flies all surrounding the salad bar, there was one lady cleaning up an abundant amount of tables, and last I witnessed the cashier take money from me, only to handle the pizza without washing her hands.

I swear just about table in this Shakey's Pizza Parlor was covered with dirty plates, cake, napkins, and pizza racks. It was so disgusting, I asked for my money back and the manger ask the spanish in spanish what happened? The cashier told the manager in spanish I was being impatient.

I guess all hispanics have to look like Mexicans to speak spanish, right? On the other hand, the facility was dirty and service was terrible. In addition, the employees(mainly Mexicans) there should really keep their conversations at minimal when talking about customers.

But then again, if you've only lived one country your whole life and assume only MEXICANS SPEAK SPANISH! Then a job like Shakey's is the...

I do not know where to start. This location once was a GEM. First, it is very hard to communicate the people there. when they don't want to help you they just tell you to call the district office. I will now drive out to Garden Grove or Buena Park to eat at Shakey's when there is this Location Right down the street from me. I was once a regular but as soon as they started to hire different people the service went downhill! the servers are nice, friendly and helpful. it is the staff in the back that are rude. I wanted a Deep Dish BBQ Chicken pizza (not during lunch a bunch time) and the cook came out from the back to see who was ordering as if they didn't want to. the manager (I guess) spoke Spanish in front of me so I couldn't understand what she was saying...I no longer go to this location and I am upset that I have to go elsewhere when I am minutes away. I started going to Shakeys long ago as a boy with my family in another state but I always remember those days with the funny slogan signs on the walls and back then a piano player! Times change but good places remain. The service at this location exceeded our expectations, we were surprised and delighted at the attention we got during the buffet lunch period. It was my son who chose Shakeys for a midweek birthday lunch with all his kids now out of school for the summer and we were not disappointed. I assigned 4 stars out of 5 this time because my pizza selection was only one out of the five available (the other four having pork which I don’t eat but my grandchildren loved). Next time I hope to see some non pork options other than just plain cheese. All in all we had a great birthday lunch and look forward to...
