To preface, I only gave it 3 stars because the first time we went was wonderful. However, the second time we went was a disaster... My husband and I wanted to take my mother somewhere for breakfast and we had Pegasus the Sunday before and it was great,so we thought why not? After waiting to be seated, which was no big deal, we were greeted by our main server who was a very nice young man. He took our orders and after probably a half hour of waiting for our food it finally came out. By this point we were obviously hungry. The woman who brought our food kind of had an attitude from the get go, didn't respond to any "thank yous". OK, whatever, maybe having a bad day. Then my husband goes to eat his biscuits and gravy. He announced to me it was ice cold. My bacon and eggs were room temperature as well. I felt his gravy, it was in fact ICE cold. Not just warm. ICE cold. Like it was sitting in a fridge and then tossed onto a warmed plate. My mother's food came out along with the rest of my food and hers was cold as well. And they brought me pancakes instead of French toast. We kindly informed the waitress that our food was cold and before we could say anything else, she literally snatched the plates away, angrily, silverware almost flew across the table. We looked at each other in awe, she needed an attitude adjustment for sure. We waved over our waiter and he was really kind about the situation and let us know he will make sure she was spoken to and that our food was heated and corrected. The next thing we know, the owner (owner? Manager? Not sure) came to our table and started making excuses for why the food was cold! He told us the plates were hot so that means the food was hot. He said he tells his best friend to not come on Sundays?? And then he asked my husband what he could do to make it right, and before my husband could even finish he just repeats his excuses. The plates were hot to the touch, so that means the food was hot. My husband mentions how he was a professional cook for four years so he knows how a kitchen works, the owner/manager goes on to ask what he does for a living now. He tells him he now sells cars and the man had the nerve to say "oh, so you're a criminal?"! Who says that! Our food comes back after two minutes of listening to this man babble on. It was obviously microwaved and they forgot to take my plate so I ate my bacon and eggs cold because at that point I was annoyed. The manager comes back as we are eating and tried to tell us stories about old commercials or something? How rude! Let. Us. Eat! Then, they tried to bill us for the entire meal. We asked our waiter about it and he was kind enough to double check with the manager and we did get a discount which was good, but the overall experience was horrendous. We may try again in the future, but for now we are steering clear of Pegasus. They have great food, but they obviously need new management. Should I even mention the staff member who walked past my husband in the bathroom and didn't wash his hands until he saw my husband staring at him and then turned around last minute to do so? I hope they figure it out because their food is really good, when it's served hot, it's a shame they have such angry,...
Read moremost of the time I would just let bad service be bad service and not talk about it but... base on the reviews that are current and as someone who has been visiting pegasus as a local since I was 15 years old (26 now) I figured I should say something. I won't be back, I am very accepting of even poor service and have wrote one bad review ever in my life. Though after multiple bad experiences starting two years ago when a chief had come in to fix issues with the food during a time when they changed there recipes I had been happy previously. the waiters and waitress's of my youth have moved away since then I have only experienced judgement and frankly deplorable customer service with a side of conformational bias. This last time a waitress just treated me like I was a waste of her time interfacing with me as far less then the others at the table and with no positive remarks only short snappy attitude which would change when talking with my parents ( my parents were paying and it probably looked as such) why would she be so obviously negative to a customer? good question not really sure past the overwhelmingly negative passive aggressive communication tactics used. Otherwise ignoring this experience and going a few years back I bit into a french fry and almost broke my tooth off (pain for a few weeks because of a rock that was lodged in the food) I calmly told the staff and the man who recently had developed the menu came out to do damage control where he apologized, but quickly followed up with a remark that stated that it could not have possibly have been his fault and alluded to me lying about the rock... even though I had saved it and it was literally on my plate he comped me a frozen desert that I did not care for. I really honestly like coming here but I won't be back based on these long term reasons. The wait staff is sometimes great and sometimes not so much and I really hate giving reviews at all but I think 2 years is enough time to decided that its just not worth the rollercoaster ride in service which is sometimes wonderful and sometimes just not worth it. I really have appreciated my other experiences not mentioned and hope those who in the past have provided good customer service continue to do so because they made it worth it for awhile and I would hope management would have a conversation about assuming positive intent and not jumping to conclusions. Thank you for your food and service up to this point regardless I have had countless positive times as well. There have been other negative experiences in-between but these two are obviously the worst out of the experiences I have had in the past which leave me more likely to want to visit a chain restaurant were at least I know the service is...
Read moreI almost never write bad reviews because I like to give businesses the benefit of the doubt unless there is something egregious. I have eaten here a few times in the past (before the pandemic) and have been happy with the food and service, so was expecting a similar experience. I realize that COVID-19 has put a strain on small businesses, especially bars and restaurants, but the Health Department has put in place rules designed to help slow or stop the COVID-19 crisis so that these businesses can eventually be back to normal operation. Pegasus doesn't seem to care about those rules, as I witnessed them breaking almost every one. Upon entering the establishment, there were no fewer than 10 people crammed into the entryway and foyer. The owner, who was acting as the greeter and host, was not wearing a face covering - only a bandana around his neck. At no time did he ever cover his nose or mouth. On this Yelp page, he states that they are taking precautions. This is at the least disingenuous, at worse an outright lie. The servers were NOT wearing gloves, and while all had bandanas as face coverings, when moving between tables most would lower them to their necks. The bartender never covered his face. The owner states that they have removed and spaced some tables. If so, perhaps 2 or 3 tables were removed, as the remainder of the dining area had tables within 2-4 feet of each other, closer when people were sitting at them. The inside bar area had people from different parties literally sitting shoulder to shoulder. This made me and my two companions uncomfortable, however we were hungry and had been sat, so opted to eat and then leave. No luck there. We sat for 10 minutes before having a server come to us. We immediately ordered 2 drinks from the bar - a Bloody Mary and a tap Stella Artois. Twenty-one minutes later, neither had been delivered. At this point we opted to leave. As we were walking out we passed our server who seemed dismayed that we were leaving. She had a tray full of drinks - none of which were the Bloody Mary or beer. She said that the bartender was still "working on them". Come on....how much effort does it take to pour a beer into a glass and make a Bloody Mary at noon on a Sunday? With this level of disregard for the community and the patrons, we won't be returning. The owner probably doesn't care. However, if YOU give a rat's behind about returning to some semblance of normalcy, take your dining business elsewhere. Castle Rock has many fine establishments adhering to the rules - please support them so that they don't go out...
