HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Everyone that knows me knows I HATE leaving bad reviews...but sometimes you have to do what you have to do...First it was seat yourself RECIPE FOR DISASTER. However, our "waitress" took over half an hour to take our drink/food order, by this time we had decided what we wanted. We waited another half hour for appetizer to arrive. It was a NASTY 1/2 pound of stale, overcooked, cold, dried up steam shrimp. Another hour ticks by, no drink refills. So now I'm HANGRY! So I get creative and call the restaurant from the table and talk to someone who appeared 10 minutes later (very nice person) profusely apologizing! Only to find out the other waitress waiting tables was the manager!?! She passed our table a dozen times and NEVER acknowledged us until I asked if she was our waitress! REALLY as a manager you are so clueless you don't know a patron has been sitting at a table for almost 2 hours with no food! Calling the restaurant FINALLY got someone's attention! I finally get my mini pizza and my husband gets his sandwich over 2 hours later! The food was cold and dried out! To their credit they did comp our meal completely BUT that was the worst service EVER! AND only the second time in my life I have ever walked out without leaving a tip! My standard lunch tip is usually $10 or more depending on the bill! Oh and the bill would have at least been $70 for a half pound of shrimp a French dip and their "famous shrimp pie" which was disgusting! 2 beers that expired LAST YEAR according to the Same Adams label and a watered down strawberry banana daquiri with very little alcohol (not that I wanted to get trashed but a happy buzz would have been nice!) If you want terrible food for a lot of money with horrible service this...
Read moreParty of 3. Started with Mullet fish dip and Conch Fritters. Fish dip was very good, not overly dry, mayo, properly shredded/ground, nice seasoning mix with a hint of jalapeno or maybe red pepper you could taste on the back end. Nice serving size for 3 people. Fritters could have been just a tad larger. Conch was chopped nicely with a nice bite-size pieces and mixed with a hush puppy type batter. Only down side was the fry oil tasted old. Fritters were brown not golden brown. Dinners were served with mixed fresh vegetables (squash and zucchini, not over cooked and served at al-dente) and choice of side. Wife had the 1/2 & 1/2 platter, crab legs & shrimp. Both were very good. She was not a fan of the coleslaw, too much poppy seed and lacked flavor, beans and rice had were over seasoned, hush puppies were dense and again the fry oil made them too dark. My sister had the Mahi-Mahi sandwich that she was pleased with, but again the fries with the oil issue. I had the Crab Cake plate with a side of scalloped potatoes. Crab cakes were good and a nice portion size, but could have used some lump crabmeat. Scalloped potatoes were a nice presentation. A layered square about the size of a piece of cake, but needed salt and needed browned before serving. Key Lime pie and Cheesecake for dessert was good, not made in-house but still good. Cody was our server and was very attentive and accommodating. Probably should have left him another 5$, but I didn't pay attention to...
Read moreWe went here 2 years ago and it was so good. We were on our honeymoon and couldn't wait to go back. We talked to someone on the phone and they were going to reserve a table on the deck for us at 4:30. When we got there they didn't have a clue what we were talking about. It's OK we grabbed a different table. We ordered something to drink, then ordered food. People came and went. After 45 minutes we caught the server and asked about our order. Everyone who came after us had been served. They gave us a lame story that they had a HUGE order just before us and that ours would be out in just a minute. 15 minutes after that we'd finally had enough and told them we didn't want their food and that we were leaving. We left totally unsatisfied. It's a shame because their food was so good last time. It was a total communication breakdown between the servers and the kitchen. The servers were young and not good at their job. They were drinking shots with a customer and that may have contributed to the whole fiasco. At least the manager tried to smooth things over but by then it was just too far gone. We ended up walking down the street and found another place with mature grown ups for employees and some damn good food. I won't name them because Duncan's had a bad day. Those girls probably won't be working there long and hopefully things will go better there. We're...
