Recent experience 2/17/25 I’ve eaten here many times and I was really looking forward to the Vietnamese pancake as it’s one of the very few places that makes it in our area. It was 1:300 Monday— and I forgot it was Presidents’ Day-. When I walked in there were 2- 6top tables and 1-2 top table vacant. I was happy to take the two tops since there was just myself. Once I was seated, my drink was ordered and when it was delivered a couple minutes later I gave my server my order. This is one of the few places I have found that makes Vietnamese pancake, and it’s always been very good when I’ve had it in the past. It’s also what I chose to order Monday. The only difference was I tried the combination which by description would contain several different proteins After 15 minutes, I wondered if maybe my order had been lost and I only saw three total servers, tried to make eye contact with mine but failed. About five minutes later he delivered my meal. I’ve never waited over 20 minutes for anything. I have ordered there in the past so I was pretty surprised. He did apologize for the long. Wait which I appreciate it. The pancake itself was stuffed overflowing, and I looked forward to diving in. The interior of the pancake was chuck full of bean sprouts, but was sorely lacking in the promised combination protein. I found a few very small pieces of chopped chicken and a couple pieces of shrimp this was Not up to par with my expectations and also was not what I experienced in the past here. I’ve always enjoyed the lemonade as it’s homemade and it was OK, but it was so overpowered this time with basil that it almost tasted a little bitter, so that was disappointing too. The pancake also was quite wet on the interior. I actually wondered if maybe part of the delay was that the chef did not know how to make it. I’m honestly not sure what happened, but I was very disappointed in my lunch and eat only about a quarter of it. I begin to look around to see if I could catch a server to bring me a box and my bill. I was lucky to catch one of the servers who I motion and mouth. I needed a box and she brought me one along with my bill It was interesting to note that almost all the patrons that were already in the restaurant when I arrived, checked out pretty much at the same time and the place looked empty for about five minutes when as if on queue, several groups arrived and filled the tables back up. I felt like it was a lot for by that time only two servers who were taking care of probably 20 tables. I’m not going to give up on them because this is the only poor meal I’ve had in the numerous times I’ve dined here but something was...

Food (the most important part!): • Their Pho options are solid and dependable (dine in and take out) - I usually get the P1 Combination and love their broth • They offer clear glass noodles! I got the C3 Tofu and Vegetable soup because I was not feeling well and this made me feel much better • Banh Mi – their S1 Grilled Pork Sandwich is SO GOOD - pro tip: get extra pate on it • Their Vermicelli bowls are delicious. I've tried grilled pork and egg rolls, lemongrass shrimp, and grilled shrimp and egg rolls. • I love that they let you order a side of broth too for a great price. Other restaurants have charged me $5 for a small broth bowl which is a ripoff but Pho Thanh Ni is fair and charges the right price, yay!
Customer Service & Interior: • Clean interior • Fast service and attentive in terms of refills and bringing food as soon as it's ready - I personally love that they don't strike up long conversations with you, I'm here to eat :) • Online ordering is easy peasy and they never messed up packing our orders • They let you customize the meals like removing cilantro
Parking & Drive-Thru: • Parking can sometimes be a bit tough in the shopping center but that's not their fault. We try to park in front of it but when we can't, we park over by Aqua Tots
For those unaware, if you get pho TO GO, the broth is intentionally separated from the protein of your choice. This is ON PURPOSE because otherwise the meat would be "overcooked" while it sat there waiting for you to pick it up/get delivered. Once you get the food, place the meat into the broth to let it cook a bit to your preference and it's great! Just like a restaurant would do for pho.
*TL;DR: * • Grateful for an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in the Cedar Park/Leander area with lots of food options and...
Read moreMy wife and I were hungry for Vietnamese food this weekend and chose Pho Thanh Nhi primarily as a result of the good reviews. Disappointment was the order of the day. I ordered V10, stir-fried beefs/lemongrass bun, she ordered D5 Bo Luc Lac. Neither dish had any flavor AT ALL. No seasoning to speak of in either dish. The beef in the bun noodle dish was a sickly grey color. That was bad enough, but the meat tin both dishes tasted old, much of it tough and not trimmed of inedible gristle. Bo Luc Lac ("shaken beef") is supposed to have lettuce, onion, cucumber, tomatoes..It had one piece of old, brown lettuce underneath the rice and no tomatoes. No dipping sauce. The rice was old and stuck together and hard in places. The fried eggrolls were full of grease, overcooked and inedible. None of this food was suitable for serving in a restaurant. In short it was awful. I am sorry to say this, as I understand reviews, whether good or bad, are important for a business. It is my hope they will heed such a review and examine their quality control measures, as such were not evident in our meals. I won't be back as this turned me off completely. I will never understand lack of quality in a restaurant, especially a Vietnamese restaurant. Sadly it isn't uncommon to find poor quality in some Vietnamese restaurants - I don't understand it given the simplicity of the cuisine which when done properly renders a terrific lively and delicious eating experience. In closing, I had intended to post pics of the meals but couldn't bring myself to do so. We didn't eat our dinners and...
