Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

This was my first and last time at Tropical Smoothie. I ordered a green smoothie. I get these at any smoothie place I go to, they're my favorite. I also ordered a wrap. I paid and while I was waiting, I noticed that on the menu it says add a smoothie for a cheaper cost when ordering any food. I had ordered food, but she had charged me for the whole price on both. I didn't say anything. I was only about a $2 difference. Got my order, took one sip of the drink and couldn't help but make a horrible face. There was no way I was going to drink it, it was terrible. I walked back in and asked the girl.....What if I hate this? She said she could switch it out for another drink, but for full price. I laughed, threw the awful drink in the trash and walked out. When I got home, I ate the wrap which had NO flavor. What a waste of money. I wanted healthy, but you can still find healthy food with flavor. This place needs help. I will not be back.

I like also how the Owner reached out to make it look online like he cared about the customer's experience. He asked if he could reach out, I said sure, they never did. Just goes to show they don't...

Went here for the first time ever today to try something new and wanted a smoothie, and I did give this place two stars for the smoothie, it tastes amazing! But I saw something really disturbing to be seen at a food industry. A girl there was blowing her nose into a napkin and I was like,” Ok she’s probably gonna wash her hands now or she’s gonna go on break. That did not happen. Instead she proceeded to pick her nose with no napkin or tissue just her fingers and return to work without washing her hands as well as not using any gloves. She then made someone a smoothie with her contaminated hands and proceeded to give them their smoothie. Still without washing her hands. I worked in the food industry and I know this should never ever happen when handling food or even being around it. It just makes me wonder what other food safety hazards they are practicing. I’ve never had a bad experience from this place. We have been regular customers and today is the first time I have had a bad experience with customer service. First off I was charged for a water and got brought a cup of water because supposedly there was no more bottled water. When I told the girl I payed for a water then she got me a bottled water but wasn’t nice at all about it. You could tell she didn’t want to serve us. Her attitude was beyond rude and disrespectful like she was in a rush. I speak from experience because I run a Mexican restaurant I have employees too and if my employees were to treat my customers like that they would’ve been gone a long time ago. Our food was cold and the chicken wasn’t even warm on any meals. This was the worst experience I’ve had with this place and I will never come back here.
