Better than Chipotle!
If you find yourself frequently eating chipotle, I STRONGLY URGE you to give this place a try! We already decided after going here for the first time today, that this will be our new Chipotle!
I had their Sriracha Steak and Shrimp burrito with their AMAZING Sriracha ranch, queso cheese, mild tomato salsa, ranch, white rice, pinto beans, lettuce and regular ranch. I'm not quite sure how they were able to fit this thing in the tortilla, but they did it! It was fantastic!
If you like spicy or at least, a moderate spiciness but not too much that the flavor is lost and you find yourself reaching for a drink constantly, their Sriracha ranch hits that sweet spot of spicy, but not overpowering! I took a large cup of this stuff home with us and couldn't stop eating their tater tots dipping them in this sauce!
Everything was fresh, made to order and all of it was packed with flavor!
They have quite a few different options besides just burritos. They offer something called the Chiwawa, which I am definitely trying next time we visit, that is something like a burrito bowl mixed with a Panera bread bowl that you could make a SLAPPIN taco salad in or a carb packed burrito bowl!
We also got their "boardwalk cookies," which are deep fried Oreos also made to order! They brought them out to us at our table while we were eating (nice hospitality touch!) And offered to refill our drinks for us and asked if there was anything else we needed. These deep fried Oreos sort of reminded me of those "Chinese powdered doughnuts," you can find at the Chinese buffets around here. The batter tasted like funnel cake batter in my opinion, and the Oreos were nestled inside warm and soft. They're dusted in powdered sugar and usually drizzled with your choice of caramel or cranberry sauce, but I asked for both on the side. These things were fantastic! Didn't have that greasy fair/fast food greasiness to them rather, they were light and fluffy with the resemblance of having been cooked in an air fryer.
I know for a fact I will be back here soon to try the Chiwawa, I spent longer than I should, trying to make up my mind...
The staff were all in high spirits, very friendly and treated you like family. They even let me try some sauces drizzled on some of their grilled chicken like free sample style in the mall from the good old days.
Honestly, if you've made it this far, please do yourself a favor and give this new restaurant a shot! I promise you, as a random nobody Google reviewer stranger on the internet, that you will...
Read moreLets start with the good: This is the first time I have ever had steak for a burrito grilled in front of me to order. It added a lot to the flavor of the burrito. Unfortunately, that is about the only thing I can say good about the trip. Placing the order was chaotic. In spite of my son and myself being the only people in the store, we felt rushed and stressed. My son ordered ground beef on his burrito because he wanted beef and that was the only beef option he saw while being rushed to order. He would have ordered steak had he not felt so pushed. Making the burrito was slow because they cooked the steak to order and ran out of white rice. I wonder how they would have handled a crowd. The burrito was very poorly assembled and collapsed after the first bite. We then ate our very messy burrito bowls. The biggest issue was that the store was FILTHY. Not just a little dirty, but more like call the health department dirty. The table we sat at had a crust on top of it. I literally washed my hands when I got home it was so dirty. The floor was mopped, but carelessly. There was solid black six inches from every corner and wall. Behind the counter was even worse. There was lots of spilled food on the floor, the grill was filthy and the counter they assembled the burrito on was grungy brown. I won't comment on flavor other than the fresh meat. I chose the ingredients and I probably didn't choose well. This might have been because we were so rushed to order. I think part of the problem was that it was Mexican food being served by an all Indian staff. Something was bound to get lost in the translation. All in all, it was not a great dining experience. The prices were on the high side and it just wasn't that good. I cannot see myself...
Read moreStarted off well, even had an employee recommend me the Nashville hot chicken burrito. When our food was ready we began to eat, bit into frozen meat not even half way through our meal. This disturbed me, I asked for it to be remade as it was cold. To which the employees responded by sticking their (gloved) fingers, 3 inches into my food to feel if it was cold, then applying pressure on them with the backs of their fingers. They said theyâd take care of it and argued to each other for minutes after brought me back the very same food (I had took a bite out of it so I was able to recognize) the food they put their fingers in and told me I need to eat this. To try, because it was no longer so cold due to them pushing the outer warmer layer down onto it. I told them no I did not want to eat it as they had their hands in it and they argued before making moreâŚ. That was STILL COLD Yes it was a new dish from the fryer I watched them do it this time, YES it was still frozen.
I pulled out the frozen piece and showed them the inside was not done (CHICKEN)
They stated they donât get complaints and they have been cooking this food the same way and nobody says anything.
We asked for a manager, after 10 minutes of back and fourth the manager calls the store and we are able to speak. We ask for a refund for our meal which was 1/4 eaten as we stopped due to the frozen UNSAFE undercooked food. We were denied a refund only for the one item that was frozen. At this point we had lost our appetite and wanted to leave. We left with $7 refund from a $50 meal that went into the trash. 2/10 would...
