Culver’s — Restaurant in Champaign

It’s fast food, so it gets rated based on that. Five stars for having what I ordered, cooked correctly and my order is served as ordered. We only have one Culver’s where I’m from. (The local urban myth is - the owner’s daughter got married and moved down here. So he opened a Culver’s so she wouldn’t do without.) and that Culver’s is far away from me. So I don’t generally get to go. In Every time I’m up north I stop at a Culver’s at least once. I always order the cheese curds. (One time I ordered the cheese curds and the cheese sauce. It was delicious but it hit me wrong and now I know I can’t do that. But you might try it.) It’s a BUTTER BURGER if you’re not sure what that is - go ahead and get it. It’s a burger. I eat too many burgers so here I always order the COD SANDWICH (I have no idea how much of it is actual fish, or if like that chicken sandwich place - it is 80% fake stuff.) the cod sandwich is fine. I order it plain with tartar sauce. (They serve it with lettuce and grated cheese sprinkle otherwise.) Onion rings are a great go-to here. At 7 pm on a Sunday night the place was pretty empty, but as we left the drive through was doing brisk business. The employee at the register greeted us with a smile and was patient as we decided what to order. Our table looked clean but the chair felt sticky on the back as I pulled it out. Cleanliness is very important to me especially in a restaurant - if they don't keep the dining room clean I wonder how clean the food prep area is? Our food arrived very quickly. We had an order of chicken tenders and they were very good, cooked well and just the right temperature. We both had mini mixers. Mine was vanilla custard with Heath bar and pecans. It was very heavy on the pecans! Normally this would be a plus but a good mixer needs a balance of ingredients so it wasn't quite what I had expected. Surprised by the number of issues we had on this visit. Got the order placed and found a table...but the order arrived and it was weirdly messed up. Guessing it's a kitchen problem, but our burgers with "everything" came only with mustard and onion. Trying to get tomatoes and lettuce for them took several at the counter to understand. There were no "extra pickles" either but I figured just getting the tomatoes and lettuce was sufficient fun for that. When we ordered a banana split "with extra cherries" we got no cherries and very melted custard. I have no idea why or how that could be so challenging but these were different people taking each order, and different people making each order.

Otherwise, the dining area was well kept and the employees taking orders did a good job getting them listed correctly (for the receipts at least). And whoever was helping correct things wanted to make it...
