Most uncomfortable dining experience I have ever had at Brazilian steakhouse. I had reservations for a party of five, and we when arrived the hostess was sweet and sat us right away, the hostess asked if we were celebrating anything my husband said my wife’s birthday, she said great I’ll let the waiter know when he came to the table and she told him they are celebrating her birthday. He looked at her like OK asked have you ever been here before which was normal we said at that we’ve been to other Brazilian steakhouse is this is the first time at this location my son said he been here before to this location, So waiter said than all right so you know what to do. Ask if we want sparkling or still water and walk away. My daughter and daughter in law wanted to order drinks. When came back we were able to order drinks. After our party started to eat our first plate from the salad bar the waiter walk up in the middle of eat and ask if we were finish and wanted to take our plates and brought over the check. I responded we just started eating and my husband and son just flipped over their coin to green for the meat to start being served. Out of 16 meats we only were serve 5 and I had to ask for them to send the meat over. We watched other guest go up and get multiple plates from the salad bar and endless amounts of meat brought to their tables. During the time we were there they did 3 birthday celebrations and our waiter never came over to ask if we were ready for dessert. I had to ask for dessert menu. We order desert and still the before the dessert was served the waiter brought over the check again. Worst dining experience I have ever had. I had been look forward to celebrating my birthday there should have just taken the drive to Fogo de chao where I know the food is on point and the service prefect. Not sure why we were treated this way? Everyone in our party was dress up cause we were going to for my birthday. Other guest were wear jogger and ball caps. I hate to say it but feel like it was cause on our skin color. Even the manager would walk up and stare us down then ask is everything OK? I’ve been to plenty of restaurants and I’ve been asked by plenty of managers. How’s the food? Is everything OK? We usually laugh with them and share the experience but this was not the same. We were not under dress. We had no small children and had proper etiquette for this dining arrangement. I was brought up with etiquette classes and so we’re my children on how to eat properly and how to behave in a dining hall. I have eaten all over the country and upper class and lower class restaurants and I’ve never felt the experience we did at this place I will never recommend come here. I was so disappointed with my birthday dinner that I just want to go home after dinner. We went in knowing that our check would be $400+ and was happy to spend it, but this was the worst $400 that I’ve ever spent in my life. I will never go back and never recommend them. If you’re looking for a good restaurant, Fogo de Chao in Scottsdale is the place to go. Galeto is a Chandler knock off don’t waste your time and money and yes we did tip $20 cash but my son pulled $60 out cash to tip but my husband told him no they gave the bare minimum and service so tip the bare minimum. I cried on the way home I couldnt understand why we were...
Read moreWanted to love this place but left feeling scammed by the server and the restaurant… super disappointed! We went for Father’s Day with my party of 5 ( 3 adults , 2 kids and a baby ( she’s a year and a half ) - We arrived and were seated- then asked for our drink order in which we said water would be fine and 1 soda . They proceed to fill our 5 cups with water and we went on our way to proceed with the food .
Towards the end of the meal - they began refilling our water and I told them we were fine and very full - so we were ready for the check … this is when things started getting a bit disappointing for me . The waiter brings the credit card machine and loudly announces to our table the amount of the bill ( I find that unusual and a bit tacky - this was a Fathers Day treat but it also tells me to NEVER bring a client or hold Meetings to dine at this establishment because I find them announcing totals to be awfully distasteful ). Then the waiter proceeds to announce that he took it upon himself to add a 20% automatic gratuity to the bill as the baby makes a 6 th person ( policy is table over 5 get charged automatic gratuity . ) - I was again caught off guard because even though I was planning on tipping the standard 20/ 30% - I find it tacky that he took it upon himself to include a 1 year old as a 6th party even though she ate scraps off my plate ….again I don’t agree with this!
Lastly and the most irritating thing is that when I looked over the final bill again - I saw that we were charged for water ! $8 per bottle and they charged me for 2 bottles at $16!!! I have never been charged for water so that caught me off guard - what’s even more troubling is that it was never discussed nor disclosed… we also NEVER asked for the 2 nd bottle and when they began refilling at the end I politely declined it …. Mind you , these water bottles used are held and brought Without seal — if it’s $8 a bottle HOW DO I KNOW THAT THE WATER ACTUALLY ORIGINATED FROM THE BOTTLE SOURCE AND IS NOT TAP WATER THAT WAS REFILLED IN THE BACK??? Normally At restaurants, consumers are given choices and in this case they never even disclosed anything …. Needless to say - I feel that this experience was negative and this restaurant scams people . Do...
Read moreI wish I would recommend this Brazilian Steakhouse Galeto to many of you or those who are looking to taste some amazing Brazilian BBQ. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing to say the least. This was my first (and last!) time at this restaurant. (I would recommend going to other Brazilian Steakhouses in the Valley! Mesa and Scottsdale have really good ones!). My husband and I went to Galeto to celebrate a special occasion. Have heard about this restaurant… but it’s nothing like most people think of having a delicious taste of Brazilian BBQ meal. The atmosphere was good, the restaurant is quite small inside (so the tables were quite closer to each other), the waiters were polite but our waiter didn’t mention that the price for our water was almost $8… we noticed that other “first timer customers” (we could hear them talking with their waiters) were also served with a glass bottle of water (imported from Italy). Who really wants to pay $8 for a bottle of water? Wish the waiter would have given us just a simple glass of water; we didn’t care to drink from an “imported glass bottle of water” and added an extra charge to our bill! TIP: Don’t get any fancy WATER BOTTLE! Charging for a water bottle was tacky, especially considering that you are already paying about $55 p/p to get a meal! It wasn’t something that we would have expected to pay for. This restaurant is appealing to people who enjoy eating cuts of meat served rare to a medium rare cooked style or to those who like their meat barely cooked. Unfortunately, there weren’t as many servers bringing the Brazilian Churrasco (giant BBQ skewers) to our table with cuts of meat that were well done. The salads, side dishes were OK, their cheese balls were good but in limited quantity (not served in the buffet area, but at the table instead). They also didn’t have “Farofa” – a typical side dish served with Brazilian BBQ meals). We are sorry for sharing our disappointing feedback of our experience, but we hope they will consider making a few changes on the way they prepare and serve their cuts of beef and also letting their customers know about their drink prices before they get a sticker price shock bill. It could have...
