Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience. The food took almost 2 hours to be served, and when it finally arrived at our table, it was cold. Our order included Sancocho, chuleta asada, arepa rellena con carne mechada, empanadas, tequeños, and a bag of plantain chips. We ordered a variety of dishes because we wanted to experience "authentic Venezuelan food" in Arizona.
The chuleta was so tough that it was difficult to even cut with a knife. There was an extra triangular piece underneath the salad that seemed to be a leftover from who knows when. The food was not only cold but also lacking in flavor.
The Sancocho did not taste like authentic Venezuelan sancocho. It contained a lot of fat in the soup liquid and was not served hot. The empanadas were also disappointing and so grease, and I couldn't bring myself to try the arepa.
We spent around $100, and it feels like I just wasted my hard-earned money. The only thing we enjoyed was the bag of plantain chips.
When we were leaving, the lady at the register called us back and gave us a $5 coupon as if this was a solution to the series of disappointments we experienced during our visit.
We understand that there may be times when we have to wait for our food, but the quality and flavor of the dishes we received were terrible. The $5 coupon offered to us as a solution to our dissatisfaction did not address the fundamental issues with the food we...
Read moreThe food is amazing, and I was so excited to see a Venezuelan place close by. I had a weird experience where I asked a simple question about a drink if it was sweet. The employee who was taking my order just said, "I wouldn't be able to answer that because if something is sweet or not is about personal taste." I said that I understood people have a different tolerance for sweetness, but I just wanted to know if they used a lot of sugar or not. Honestly she had a look on her face like I was ridiculous for asking, and she repeated, "I wouldn't be able to answer that. But all of our drinks have sugar in them." It made me feel like I was a demanding customer just for asking a simple question about a drink that I had never tasted before. So, I ended up not buying one. Just some feedback in case it helps. The other employee I had interacted with previously was very helpful in...
Read more1st time & we stopped in to check out their empanadas. Not only did we get 4 different empanadas; shrimp & cream cheese, shredded beef, ground beef & rice and ham & cheese (all good, but the ground beef and rice was my favorite), but we also got an order of maduros (outstanding) and a tres leches for dessert and it was one of the best tres leches I've ever had. Parking is pretty tight (its in a strip mall with a mexican food restaurant) and you order at that counter and they bring it out to you. Pretty quaint little place but the food was pretty good. DEFINITELY stop in for the tres leches -...
