Among the growing sea of bubble tea shops and casual eateries, Tea Hill quietly stands out. Not because it tries too hard, but because it delivers something far more valuable: authenticity. From the first bite of their Taiwanese popcorn chicken to the final sip of jasmine green milk tea, this place captures the essence of Taiwan with impressive clarity.

The popcorn chicken is a highlight. Each piece arrives hot, golden, and perfectly crisp. The seasoning is subtle, allowing the marinated chicken to shine without overpowering it. What elevates the dish even further is the ability to customize. You can add extra spicy or salt and pepper seasoning, and both options enhance the flavor without losing the traditional character. This level of choice is not only satisfying but also shows a real understanding of how to serve street food well.

The jasmine green milk tea is equally memorable. It is fragrant and lightly tart, with just the right amount of sweetness. The flavor is clean and familiar to anyone who knows real Taiwanese milk tea. It does not try to be trendy or overly sweet. Instead, it focuses on delivering a balanced, nostalgic experience.

Yes, the prices are on the higher side. But what you are paying for is more than just a snack or drink. You are getting carefully prepared food with quality ingredients and an authentic touch that is increasingly rare. In this case, the cost feels justified.

One thing that was weird was the smell inside; there was a bit of a bathroomy sewery smell that made me not want to stay for the food. This detracted from the otherwise positive atmosphere.

Overall, Tea Hill succeeds where many others fall short. It does not just offer Taiwanese-inspired food. It offers the real thing, thoughtfully prepared and served with care. Whether you are missing the flavors of home or curious about what true Taiwanese street food tastes like, Tea Hill is worth the visit. Just get your order to go for the...

This used to be my favorite milk tea place for over three years, but tonight’s visit was extremely disappointing. I arrived around 7:50 pm, ordered my food, and tried to use the bathroom to wash my hands. A sign said it was being cleaned, so I waited about 15 minutes. Even after my food arrived, the sign was still there.

I then saw another customer walk in and use the bathroom, so I assumed it was fine. I quickly stepped in with the door open and washed my hands for less than 30 seconds. Immediately afterward, the same girl who had gone in before confronted me, raising her voice and telling me the bathroom was closed. I apologized several times, but instead of moving on, she kept blaming me, which felt unnecessary and unprofessional.

After this, my boyfriend politely asked the staff at the counter when he would be able to use the bathroom. Their only response was a cold “the bathroom is closed.” No explanation, no courtesy — just dismissive.

To make matters worse, I watched the same staff member go from cleaning dirty trays, to scrubbing the bathroom, and then straight back into the kitchen making drinks. That is not hygienic, and it does not inspire confidence in the food safety here.

The shop closes at 9 pm, and I came well before that. I understand staff want to clean up and leave promptly, but if the store is open to customers, then the bathroom should also be open. Denying access and treating customers this way is unacceptable.

I used to love this place, but after this experience, I don’t feel comfortable...

We have been coming here for over two years for milk tea and recently the experience has been awful. The past three times we ordered wintermelon milk tea with boba, half sweet. First, we understand that the wintermelon flavoring is part of the sugar, so when it is less sweet, it is less flavorful. That being said, the past three times we have ordered, there has been NO wintermelon flavoring. It is a very distinctive flavor, so when it is absent, it is obvious. The first time this happened, we just drank the plain milk tea because it obviously wasn't terrible or anything, but it was a little disappointing to not get what we ordered. The second time, we waited until we got home and just called to let them know, not looking for a refund, but just to point out the mistake because we were noticing a trend. This third time tonight, we actually turned around and drove back. They took our drinks and added regular sugar and handed them back to us STILL without wintermelon flavoring. We don't plan on getting our tea...

Tl;Dr: the best boba in Chapel Hill by FAR! The absolute best boba, no other shop compares, Tea hill is not only delicious, they’re consistent in what they produce. The drinks are always great and come out quick! I can’t review Tea Hill without taking about their food too! The menus simple, yet delicious! The crispy Thai chili chicken is my go to dish, and i never get tired of it! Also, if you’re looking for a place to work, study, or just hang out, you’ve found your spot! The only single complaint I have, is that my favorite drink isn’t year round. The mango man. Every summer, it’s my go to, and it would be my year round drink of choice if it were available. 13/10- can’t recommend enough Mango man photo attached

Short line, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. I ordered a strawberry matcha latte and my sister got a pink lady, both half sweet and light ice. Mine was too sweet and really watery by the end. The boba was super soft, but I like mine slightlyx chewy so these were cooked longer than my preference. The strawberry overpowered the matcha, which was also disappointing. While not recommend. My sister said hers was too sweet as well and tasted like a a strawberry limeade with too much sugar and not enough tartness. Also would not recommend. We also ordered the snack popcorn chicken, which is the reason for the stars. It was piping hot, crunchy, and good enough to eat without sauce. 5 stars would recommend.
