WARNING: This is long, my apologies beforehand.
This was my second (and LAST) time going to this salon. The first time the workers tried to steal my anklet during my pedicure. And I'm not even kidding. But it's the only salon I knew about near campus so I decided to come back. Horrible mistake.
The second time I went to this salon I walked in and was barely greeted. They briskly asked me what I wanted done (a gel mani-pedi) and then rushed me to choose a color (none of which I wanted).
When I went to sit down, they did not ask me what kind of pedicure I wanted. They did not remind me that the chair had a massager nor did they start the massager for me (like they did with other clients). They did not offer me any drinks (like they did with other clients). And they did not put any powder/salts in my water (again, like they did with other clients). They had me sit there for almost 25 minutes with my feet just soaking in tap water and when another client came in and sat down had the audacity to ask me who was first. Furthermore, the woman barely massaged or buffed my feet and did not use any lotion at all and very forcefully told me to take off my own fingernail polish (which I would not have had a problem with had she spoken to me with respect).
After all of this I was extremely offended yet I stayed because I really wanted my nails done and I don't know of any other nail salons that close to campus. Anyway, I did not receive my manicure. The most the woman did was cut my cuticles roughly and painfully. I received no oils, massage, or anything. After this the woman asked me what I wanted and I specifically told her I wanted white fingernail polish. Being that English was not her first language I guess she did not understand and just assumed I wanted french tips. So she proceeded to paint french tips on my hands during which I kept asking her if she was going to paint the entire nail white, which she assured me she would. Finally I had to stop her completely and sternly say "No. I wanted white, not french manicure." Then I guess she got upset because she just assumed I wanted french tips when I specifically and obviously said I wanted white. She and her coworkers started talking and they were obviously annoyed and talking about me. Imagine how I felt! I had been waiting months to get my nails done and this is the treatment I got. After I clarified I had wanted all white, she goes back and does my toes correctly but then tells me "it's too late" to fix my fingernails. Also, during her painting my nails one finger messed up and she refused to fix it.
After ALL of this, I finally go to pay and for some ODD reason the amount came up to EIGHTY FIVE dollars (and the woman at the cash register criticized me for "not telling the the nail tech what I wanted in time, even though I [specifically] said I wanted white, [not] french tips). So I basically paid $85 for a poor excuse for a pedicure and a manicure, a paint that I didn't even want, cuticles that almost bled, and women with poor attitudes and no sense of professionalism working on my hands and feet.
One thing I will say is that the woman, after seeing my complete displeasure with her "manicure" offered for me to come back in a couple days so she could paint my nails again (actually white this time) with no cost. I ended up just going home and painting over the french myself.
I will never return to Nail Trix on Franklin St. They were disrespectful, careless, and callus and I was thoroughly disappointed. If there are any BETTER QUALITY alternatives close to campus please let me know.
Also, I apologize for the length and if I sound angry, but I did pay $85 for something I didn't even want, and I felt very disrespected by the...
Read moreI come to Nail Trix occasionally for facial waxing because their prices are so darn cheap. I've never had issues with their brow or lip waxing, but their leg waxing is not great; they are super quick, but they don't pay great attention to detail. I often get home to see that they've missed several hairs. They also have a tendency to pull leg hair superficially, i.e., not from the root, meaning your hair will come back more quickly than it really should after a wax.
The quality of customer service varies depending on the staff member who provides your service. I've never had a terrible customer service experience at this salon, but I can't say I've ever had a great one either. Regardless, most of the women who work there are nice enough.
They've made major updates to the space recently-- fresh paint, better lighting, new mirrors, and a water feature. The style of decor is rather dated despite being totally new (I believe they overhauled the salon sometime in 2014). Still, it looks much cleaner than it used to, and the environment is calmer though not exactly relaxing. The only area of the salon that didn't really get overhauled is the waxing room. It looks way better than it used to (fresh paint on the walls, a nice new mirror), but it still looks kind of trashy.
I couldn't tell you anything about the quality of their nail services since I've never gotten my nails done there, but the space looks nice and clean, and they have those massage chairs with the little spa tub for your feet. Their menu prices seem on par with what you would pay at any other cheap nail salon. BTW, their online menu is out of date. As of 8/19/2014, most of their services are about $2-$3 more than what's stated online.
Bottom line: this is a totally decent waxing salon for folks in the Chapel Hill area that aren't looking for a spa experience. They take walk-ins, which is generally not the case at more upscale waxing salons. For my money, I would rather go to Wax Poetic in Carrboro or Moss in Chapel Hill, but Nail Trix is a...
Read moreDecember 13, 2017 occurrence. In Chapel Hill with my mother, undergoing medical treatment. So I Google nail salons in Chapel Hill. Well Nail Trix came up first the reviews were medium so the location was convenient from the hospital I went in. I told them what I wanted it was fast service being seen then again it was very few people in there. I ask for a full facial wax and a full set with pink gel not polish acrylic. They directed me to the back this is where I met Sophia I told her about the reviews and how people talk highly of her she was pleasant. So she gave me a waxing my eyebrows where immaculate then she went on to wax my sideburns and chin. She also was the one who did my full set. I had to Google what I was talking about and then she still put powder acrylic oh my nails under the supposed to be pink gel she tells me it supposed to be extra but she not going to charge me. I'm looking like do you think this is my first time getting my nails done but I go along with her shenanigans because I was in need of some pampering. Long story short my nails popped off in 2 weeks and my face is broken out still today December 24, 2017. I would not recommend anyone to go to Nail Trix apparently they give good service to who they want. They are not aware of variety of ways when doing nails. I know my nails, powder acrylic don't stand a chance but she was adment she knew what she was doing. She got me, icing on the cake she charge me 85 for this mess. I was going back to protest my disapproval but this review will loose them...
